Engine raising for airheads on eBay

Hi Airheads,

I could this item on eBay this morning:

It raises the engine 3cm (about 1 inch) ... and specifcally says "Perfect for that air-head café racer project bike you've got going!"

What is the advantage of raising your engine, specifically the front by 1 inch?

Ideas? anyone?

I can only summise it would provide extra cornering clearance for the cylinders (which of course stick straight out from the engine and are the widest part of the bike).

It also looks like he's got an extension unit installed between the already deeper than stock oil pan and the engine block. This would allow for a lot more oil to be maintained, I guess allowing it to be kept cooler in the pan. Clearance directly under the engine is not an issue for road, so I don't think you need the risers to accomodate the oil pan.

Might also keep the oil more level in the pan perhaps - maybe some benefit to raising the front end of the engine, although it would change the angle of the exhaust.

Buzz the question is why? I mean, it'd throw odd the floats ... but aside from that and what Tin Tin suggested, I'm not sure why else you'd want to do it...

I'd say the fact that it would stop you from dragging motor in the corners is reason enough hey?
