Gilera 106 SS

I love it, I think my latest project will end up looking pretty close to that when I'm done.
What size tires are you running? They look like Shinkos' 244?

Great! I can't wait to see what you do with it. Keep me posted. -MBS

About the tires, I can see that the rear is a 3.5, what about the front?
Also what size rims are you running them on? I have a 1.6 rim in the front and would like to put a 3.50 on it but I'm not sure if it will work or not...

Hey everyone, for some reason I am not getting the notifications in my email when this thread is updated, so sorry if I had not responded to anyones posts. I will check the notification option and be sure its working. I am running stock rims and off the top of my head I can't remember what size tires I used, but they are definitely larger then the manual specs. I most likely will not change out the tail light and as far as the bags go, I did buy a set of .50 cal. ammo boxes only to find that they were too large for the bike and did not look right, also they are pretty heavy. The bags I have are hard shell and the size is perfect, so I think they will look really cool. I'll post some pics when I get them mounted up.

is the wiring on this bike already simple, or did you just do a knockup job of hiding all of it? i think this biike looks fantastic.

Well for starters, there is less wiring than on most bikes, since there is no battery or electric starter, no signals or marker lights and I ditched the horn. I managed to hide the wiring for the tail light and brake light switch pretty well. The majority of the wiring is in the headlight bucket and under the fuel tank by the coil. Its a very primitive 6V setup with a magneto, so simple that if the headlight or tail light bulb pops the bike won't run. Thanks for the compliment. -MBS

Hey thanks for the link and the kudos. I have a copy of the 106ss manual if anyone needs it. I have thought about upgrading the engine to the 125 but damned if I could find one that is not beat or junk. Still I keep my eyes open. Right now I am looking for a larger rear drive sprocket to increase the torque more. The hills in my area are brutal and the little 106 struggles on them from time to time.
