GN400 Cafe Seat

So I've lurked around here for a while, posted my build wrongly in the bob/chop board, but have found a ton of info that has helped out greatly. So thanks to everyone for that...

So heres my GN400, inspired by Cierracarts GN400 and the holiday customs build (among others). I originally wanted to get on the road and liked the brat seat style, so I fabbed one out quickly using a skateboard and some foam pads and vinyl:

Since then I have put some miles on it, it works fine, but now the café seat has caught my eye. I was thinking of doing either a foam cutout and cover the whole thing, or try my hand at the DCC fiberglass mold. Then I was looking around somewhere (maybe here, I dunno) and saw where a guy made a café hump with an old tank. Since I received three tanks with the bike when I bought it (and they were rusted out junk), I thought I'd try it.

My porter cable compressor could barely keep up with the harbor freight air cutter, but I got it cut out

So I'm thinking about mounting the tank hump to the frame, installing the turn signals on it, then fabbing out another seat that joins up to the hump. This could also raise the rear fender, thus more clearance, might even have room to hide the battery!

Thoughts?

got a little done today...cut back the frame a few more inches then riveted a strap to the frame, then riveted the rear fender to that...actually gave me more clearance than I had before!

Now the cowl fits on the frame end without hitting the brake light and wiring. Gonna thread some screws into the frame to hold it in place. Have a buddy whos gonna blast the rust and old paint off, then gonna paint it silver to match the tank.

Not a lot done, but some....

as long as you are redoing it why not do it right ? first get an observation of where the rear wheel is at full bump ,then build with an inch clearance .this should also get the seat up a bit higher where it belongs giving you better control of the bike and also will take away some of that dog draggin is ass on the carpet look that you have now

Well, I do have some longer shocks coming which will improve the clearance and height by like an inch. So the rear will be higher and the lines will be better. There will be more padding on the seat, so I'll sit a little higher too.

Seat mockup on the bike:

Got to work on the padding, relocated the battery

Work on my loop stitch while watching Star Trek...

Had my buddy sandblast the cowl:

Paint the cowl silver, staple the vinyl, and done!

On the bike:

So, not bad, could be better, but the important thing was that it was free using leftover materials I had laying around the house. Decent use of an old worthless tank, too. Now the contour of the cowl matches that of the tank. Now all I have left is relocate my turn signals since they are partially hidden behind the shocks.
