good price on cam chain splitter

I am buying a cam & chain splitter set from pit bike central http://www.pitbikecentral.com/Tools.htm, it is $68 total & looks pretty good. will keep you posted : on how well it works. it sure looks like the one others sell for bigger bucks, and pitbike is in Ontario and likes dotheton type 70's bikes. I could use dremel and vise grips but just got $60 returned to me..apparently the guy has an xs650 as his bike & is a vintage mechanic.

Brian - what cam chain are you splitting? I hauled my xs650 engine in to have it done at a shop for $20. Paid another $20 to have the new link riveted in.

They broke a tool doing it. I figure for the few times I was going to do it, I'd rather pay the service fee than buy a pricey tool.

Turns out you can take the cam out of an xs650 engine without splitting the chain - need to remove the bearings and then the cam is loose enough to get out. However, new cam chains come split so you need to rivet a new link in anyhow.
