Hi. My name is Artie. Bought this bike as an original 4,600 mile 1976 Honda cj360t. Just needed some carb work. I loved the cafe racer, scrambler, bobber styles and decided to play around with some aftermarket parts. All cosmetic at this point, but would love to do some minor engine mods to make it a little faster. Hasn’t gotten to 100 mph yet. lol.
Would love to maybe get some greater compression and a cam. But I’m sure it’s not that simple. I’m still learning.

Hi there, welcome and nice looking bike.

The 360 is a nice little bike but came right after the vastly popular CB/CL/SL350 and didn't get nearly the aftermarket love. If you are very persistent you MAY find one of the Hooker exhaust systems or an electronic, breakerless ignition system for it. I very much doubt the you'll find much of anything off the shelf so it would have to be eBay or nothing. I've heard that cams can be had but are ground to order so would be expensive. The hot ticket is to find a pair of Suzuki GS-850 pistons (69mm and the older two valve engine not the four valve). You have to get the cylinders bored out to 69mm by a good machine shop, (Don't know where you are but there's one that's very experienced w/ this here in Central Ohio) and use the existing Honda connecting rods and wrist pins. It'll take the displacement from 355cc to 378cc which doesn't sound like much but the 360 was already well-engineered and can handle the extra gulp w/out extensive valve, intake, or exhaust work. Add a set of easily obtainable CB350 "racing" clutch springs and away you go. The GS parts aren't real easy to find but are out there if you patiently look, again, eBay can be your friend if you are cautious. And the last little nugget... I BELIEVE, but others on here may have to confirm, that the entire transmission innards from the earlier CB/CL360 with a 6-speed transmission will drop right into the case and replace your 5-speed.

I've been able to get about 105 to 110 mph out of one with the stock carb modified by PJ. That's really all it took. I use the Charlie's place electronic ignition on mine. I may have a pair of the GS850 pistons in my stash. I have an engine still to build with one set, but as you can imagine, most on Ebay sell as sets of 4.
