Hold phone as speedo

Anyone know a good way I can strap my phone down to my top triple to use as a temporary speedo until the end of the summer or at least until I get enough money to buy a new speedo gear and cable?

What phone? I know for iphone there are a lot of clamps and devices.
It's for an iPhone. I'm trying to find a way to mount it that doesn't really cost too much. Probably something I can just make. I'm just going to be using it temporarily for a couple weeks.

I had tried this with an Otterbox (I think) case and some packaging tape. The mount worked out just fine but the free app I used was terrible. It would say things like I'm going 40 when waiting at a light and 0 when I was cruising around 55 for several minutes. It was a piece of junk and didn't really work at all.

If you search back through my threads I made a mount for my iPhone a while back to mount it to the triples on my 350.
It was pretty cool but the iPhone GPS receiver sucks and updates too slowly.

Its not an app problem,
The iphone GPS chip only refreshes at "up to" 2HZ real world is about 1Hz.
So that means it only checks your location once a second, which means it can only compute speed once every 2 seconds. Which is abysmal. It is only useful if you are cruising at 55.

For example, when you accelerate from 0-60 and then hit the brakes, it reads 0, 5, 20, 30, 50, 60 but by the time it reaches 60 you have already slowed back down to 40.

For some people this isn't an issue, but I couldn't deal with that as its incredibly annoying to never know how fast you're going while you're accelerating or decelerating.

For Android users check out GPS Status. By far the best Speedo and GPS app I've used. UI is great, shows great info.

Of course it depends on your smartphone's and how many and what sensors it has. It works great on my S3.

Speedos are for pussies. Just go fast.

;)

I just put my foot down for 4.5 seconds and I can judge my speed based on how hot my boot gets to within 1mph.
