Hello all, just a quick introduction. Back in the dark ages of the 90's I owed for a few months a 78 CB650. I dreamed that I would build a bad ass "britt looking" bike outta what had been my brothers first bike. A career change to building race cars and moving forced the sale and I never really got the ich outta my system. Fast forward lots o years and add a family of three kids and a wife and having "toys" seems pretty crazy.
Some times things happen for a reason I believe. Late in September of this year a friends uncle asked to store a bike at a buddy of mines house..and I just bought my second bike a 1981 CB400t, a bit ratty but running. for $300 bones I had to have it. Its missing its headlight, front signals, and mirrors. the tank is dented.. but not leaking..a side panel is gone (they were going anyway!)...but its got new rubber at both ends, decent chain, starts and runs. The forks and front wheel are tagged so I'm guessing its been replaced...and the gauges...good god honda what were you thinking... are fantastic plastic console style.
I need to get it up and running for spring, so Ive bought new cables all around, plugs, oil and filter, headlight and I'm waiting to land the lights and bar end mirrors at the up and coming bike show here in Feb. I'm planning on building a fiberglass and aluminum seat at the shop and I'll likely wheel out the "tucks" for the tank as well. The chromolly tube for the bars should be at the shop by Monday. I have also been toying with the idea of building my own mirrors...but time is not with me. I'll try and get some before pics this weekend and as I go I will throw up some of the project...and if you know where to get a 81 cb400 tank let me know.
All the best!

P.S whats the record distance for throwing a set of those gauges?
