Hey how's it going. I've been looking around the site and there is a lot of cool stuff here. I have had my 76 CB 550K for about a year and a half and have been slowly building it into a cafe bike. So far it has been a pretty slow process but I have learned a lot in the process.

Hey,

Welcome to the board!!...
Its nice to have another cb550er join...nothing wrong with the XS650 guys, but I was starting to feel like the only guy with a cb550 left!!.. LOL!!...

Any other plans for your bike?

Hey nice to see you from the SOHC4 forum... I think the 550 makes a great cafe bike I just wish that there were as many parts available for the 550's as the 750's.

There is a lot more to be done on my bike. This winter I hope to pull the front and rear wheel apart to get the hubs and the rims powder coated and some new stainless spokes. While I have the wheel off I will also be powder coating the swingarm. I still need to sort out my seat. The tank I have is from a 750F and I would like to take the dead blow hammer to it for some knee inserts. At some point I will tear the whole bike down to the frame for powder coating. I will also be looking to up the displacement to 605cc's. So, I figure in the next 5 years I may have my bike where I want it... LOL

By the way your bike looks great keep up the good work!

Oh yeah!!.. That is an cb750f tank on your bike!!...
I have a spare cb750f tank that I just finished that will go on the cb550 this winter time:

how is the tank mounted in the back? Since its longer than the stock cb550 Im sure special mods were done to hold the back down. When you have a chance, could you post a pic of how your cb750f tank is mounted to the cb550 frame in the back?

Thanks man!!

Cheers
