Coast to Coast
Hey guys,

Been on here for a couple weeks, and never got around to posting here.

Just wanted to say whats up, and this site is AMAZING. I have learned so much stuff, and I still don't know a fraction of what most guys on here do.

Working on a 71' CB350, small budget (of course)

If your in Austin, would love to meet up sometime once I get my bike up and running. Or if you want to help out, great. I am new to this and trying to learn as much as possible.

Thanks. Check out my build blog and feel free to chime in.

Nobody likes us Austin guys I guess. My thread was just a few below yours. Let me know if you need any help and I'll see what I can do. My mechanical knowledge is fairly limited, but I'm at least willing.

I've got a CB125 that I'm working on getting ready for inspection so I can get it on the road. Maybe we can get a ride in one day down the road.

Awesome,

Yeah I guess so. I figured there had to be a few more Austinites on here than just me.

I am in the same boat as you with my bike, getting closer to having her up and running. I would love to get together down the road sometime and take a nice ride.

Random question, every now and then I see on Craigslist about a motorcycle co-op where you can work on you bike etc here is Austin. Ever heard of it?

Good to meet you, talk to ya soon, and lets get to work on these bikes and start slinging some rubber.

Yeah, I've seen the posts. It sounds like a good way to get things done that are over my head in complexity. I haven't been by to check it out, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about it. I have a mechanic in my neighborhood here in South Austin that doesn't mind showing me the ropes while he's working on my bike, so I have just been sticking with him.
My rubber should be in the mail sometime this week. After sorting that out, i'll have to tackle turn signals and the horn and I should be good to go for inspection.

Where in town are you located? I'm about a block off of South Lamar, near Alamo Drafthouse.

Very cool about your mechanic friend. That's always helpful. I am SW near Slaughter Ln and Mopac. Only about 10 minutes from you.

I was told in Texas, if your bike doesn't have turn signals when you get it inspected it doesn't need them. If it does have them then they have to work. I am going the no turn signal route.

I've heard the same thing about the signals. Mine are already there, but I just have to track some 6 volt bulbs down. I figure that since they're there, I might as well use em'. If it turns out to be a pain, I could always pull them off and get inspected sans blinkers.

I've ridden my mountain bike a good bit down around you at Slaughter Creek Trail. That's a pretty nice area.

Good point. Mine came off so I just left them off as I am trying to run minimal electrical. Are these what you are looking for

If you cant find any reasonable ones I am not using my four signals. Not sure if they are the same bulbs, but they may be. Also, I am not sure if they work, like I said they were off when I got them. Either way if you need some I am selling a lot of my stuff I am not using, and if they turn out to be working you can have them all for $5.

Yeah I live in Circle C North at the moment, (far west end of slaughter), right near Slaughter Park. Its a pretty cool area. Have you ridden the Barton Creek Green Belt much on your mountain bike?

Those bulbs have a ba15d base and I believe I'm looking for ba15s. I'll have to do some research to see if they'll work, because that's the cheapest I've seen.

Yeah, I'm on the greenbelt a decent bit since I'm so close to it. I've been off my bicycle for a month or so. I need to get back at it. Do you ride?
