Hey all I am new here.

I have always loved cafe racers, and have wanted to build one..but seeing as I am in the Coast Guard I knew I would never have a schedule that let me really focus in on a project..

I am finally at a point where I am ready to start working on a cafe racer to call all my own..I just need to find a suitable bike near me first! Great forum, I have been lurking for some time and finally decided to register because I really want to get this project underway.

Welcome to the boards, and your new obsession. Once you get bit by an old, rusty, falling apart, heavy, slow, hard to find parts for bike, you'll never be the same. P'cola ha a lot of areas around it that should be ripe for the picking of old bikes. Anywhere between Tallahassee and Mobile should hold a bunch of hidden gems in old yards and barns.

Thats what I thought too..but I still havent found anything reasonable..

Anything I have found has been way overpriced too..around $1500 for a rusty old barn find

Definitely don't buy the first thing you look at. Give yourself a month or 2 or even 10 if need be, the right bike will come along.

Even the older bikes are expensive in the summer during the summer cause its riding weather. Take your time, there are those gems and deals to be found.

well if anyone sees one let me know haha

im fairly decent with engines seeing as my job in the CG is to keep a 75 year old engine room going ::)

i think impatience is getting the best of my because there are all these cheap bikes without titles..and i live on the AL state line where that would be okay..and my father lives in AL so he can have all the untitled bikes older than '75 that he wants..but I cannot..

have your dad buy the bike then register it in alabama. After its registered you can get a title fairly easily.
