Question about 69 CB450 Forks

Hey all -

i've got a 69 cb450 i've been doing some work on. in the process of stripping the frame and components, i removed the fork tubes (not the stem/triple tree). so far as I can tell, they've since been stolen from my garage. glad they didn't take anything else.

trying to find a replacement set on ebay, but its tough finding an exact match on year. I know the 69 forks have a taper at the top - am wondering if any of you know if its possible to buy a later model set (70-80s, theres a likely set from 72 i've been eyeing) and have it fit the triple tree I still have on the bike. were there significant changes in fork diameter or axle clamp sizes between years on early cb's? if it won't, any problems fitting a later model stem onto the frame?

i've ditched the upper fork headlight ear cover and the lower cover that clips the speedo cable on, so not worried about fitting those.

any help would be much appreciated. hope that was clear enough.
