Rearsets for 83 Yamaha xs650 heritage special

I'm going to be getting rearsets for the 650 hopefully soon! Has anyone tried the one's from Viet, or any others that you like on your 650?
 
I've got a set from Loaded Gun on my '76 standard. I little higher than I'd have made myself, but work really well combined with the clubman bar I'm running. I lucked out and got them off CL here locally for almost 1/2 price!
 
Thanks! yeah I really like the Loaded gun's! The kits for the 650's are $225.00 and you have to bend the kick starter and cut and drill the brake and shifter pedals. The one's from Viet come withe everything so you don't hafta bend and drill the levers. Let us know how they work for you. I've been considering putting them on my '77D. Says for Specials but I don't think there is any real difference between the Standard and Special in mounting area. Looks like the kick starter may clear with the smallish brake pedal, hope so cause my bike is kick start only.

Those mount to the passenger peg brackets, which are different from standard to Special.
 
I really got a deal. The gut I bought mine from already had modified a set of levers, so all I had to do was bolt them on. FYI, your kick lever will have to be modified to clear the peg and brake lever. I heated/bent mine at work. One of the maintenance guys did it for me before I got to the shop to do it! A little wire wheeling and it locks like new- can't see a bend in it anywhere.

Way to burst my bubble! Thanks for the info saving me possibly expensive mistake.
 
I got these rearsets after they sat at DHL in El Paso for awhile. I finally convinced them to ship to my PO box because they dont ship to rural areas. So anyway they are not bad at all! The shifter side works well but I cant get enough leverage on the brakes! Any ideas on how to get the brakes to work better?

just to clear it up you got viets rear sets? do you have pictures of it installed?
 
yes viets. The bike still needs a lot of work and I'm not sure what to do with the exhaust yet but here they are!

Old School Speed makes kits to fit the XS650. I used OSS for my GS550, and Kris worked with me to get the correct orientation of the levers. ( The shift lever in the "universal kit" I had ordered had the actuating arm going up, and I wanted it pointing down) He sent me the one I needed at no additional cost.

That's good to know. The price isn't too bad either. I'm going to have to figure out something for the brake side. I'm not getting enough leverage no matter how adjust it or I may not be doing something right.
