Removing dust caps from EMGO shocks?

Just wondering if anyone has attempted removing the dust caps on these? Not a big fan of the bulky look. (Yes I know they are not supposed to be the best shocks in the world :-\ but they will tie me over till next season) My plan was to just buzz them off, but a friend of mine seems to think the shocks will be ruined if I did that. Attached a photo of the shocks for reference. Thoughts?

Thanks :)

You need to use a spring compressor and remove the top eyelet, remove the dust cover, and reinstall the eyelet. I'm not sure how you could "buzz" them off though.
