Recently have been having some issues with acceleration on my cl360. Bike is idling low spiking to about 2000 then back down. When accelerating, it will be very sluggish, and then accelerate quickly, then back down to sluggish. It will do this for awhile and then eventually start to act "normal". I had a suspicion that it could have been the high octane gas not combusting properly or that the carbs may be dirty. Emptied gas tank, filled with low octane gas and added Seafoam. Seemed to be acting more normal, but hard to tell if it will act up again. I bought a K & N air filter cleaner kit and will clean them later today. Am I missing something here?

Check for air leaks, especially where the carbs are mounted to the head. The rubber holders get old and brittle with age and develop cracks. Also, maybe worth checking the carb slide diaphragms, they may have holes in them.
Also, maybe a good idea to go through the manual and do a basic tune up so that you can help eliminate any potential causes.

Driving home from work today on the bike and it was acting like it was only firing on one cylinder. Pulled over to the side of the road and one of the pipes was cold. So starting to assess the damage and saw that the plug connector was completly off of the spark plug wires from ignition coil. The connector had all sorts of black sticky substance and i couldn't even see the inside screw. I cleaned out the black crap, cut back the wire to see some fresh copper and put the wire on the engine to see if it sparked. It sparked so I hooked it back up to the plug and boom, she's purring again. Could that have been the culprit all along? I hope it was and that murphy will leave me alone for a few days.
