suspension mods

Been Around the Block
I'm just about done assembling and ready to get my fucking basket case piece of shit cb750 on the road. the forks are shot...mushy, leaky, etc. the rear shocks are fine, but i noticed they aren't all that expensive.

my question is: what do you guys recommend for first suspension mods? I'm open to answers beyond just forks and shocks as well. I'm still new to CBs so I'm not familiar with every must-have, must-not-have (i just learned yesterday what the SOS is and exactly how you guys feel about it), and ideal mods.

i know I'll be told to either replace my seals or overhaul the fork assembly; I will.

...it's an '81F, by the way.

Start with the forks. A good first mod on the forks is cartridge emulators. Once your forks are good, then take another look at your brakes. Good front suspension means better braking, so optimizing your braking performance is now ideal. Once you have done these things, start looking at rear shocks.

SavOr's response is spot on and implies that you are rebuilding the forks, cleaning out old oil, inspecting the legs for scratches and rust spots etc and fitting new seals and filling the right amount of good fork oil. :-)
