The FNG from PA........

Do what cha does...........
Just thought I would say hey, whats up...I'm the new guy. I drug an 85 gs550e out of a scrap pile over the summer. I love projects and I'm mechanically inclined. Figured it would be a cheaper mode of transportation anyways...... Fell in love with a new hobby. Was doing some surfing one night on the interweb and discovered cafe racers. I'm hooked and these bikes are badass. Been lurking around here as a guest for a few days now and decided to join up. Heres a view of my crap piece. Enjoy.

So far I have made a set of clip ons and altered a few cosmetic pieces. Spray bombed it flat black and got er on the road. I made a set of bar end mirrors which I will have to take a pic of and throw up here tomorrow and I am scavenging the area for a descent round headlight instead of that front fairing and square headlight. I am also still working on that seat. Scored some stuff from the dumpster at work the other day. That may be my project for the weekend.

WELCOME, Good looking ride I always liked the styling of the gs's.
your seat has more rolls than a bakery but bet I it's comfy. you should reshape it to you and have it covered.

good to have you here

any questions just ask

thanks for the pic

welcome to the forum..
what are your plans for the bike?
My streetfighter "phase" came and went pretty darn fast...I just wanted something different.

Thanks for the kudos and its great to be here. I am planning on reworking the seat this weekend. I covered it with a t-shirt till I can get to the fabric store and get something proper. Which I am hoping to do tomorrow. I really just want to build something to fit me. Like you said...I just want something different. My goal is to accomplish this as cheaply as possible. I am a Maint. Mechanic by trade so I always find goodies in the scrap dumpsters at work which I typically dig out and transform into something useful...like my handlebars and the mirror mounts.

I want to find a smaller set of round mirrors and I am going to alter the arms a tad yet. Put these on to see if I would really like it or not. When I got this bike it was pretty beat up. With the help of a couple friends and a few new parts its up and running again. It wasn't until one day I was working in the garage cutting some lexan with my dremel....that I looked at the bike and said " I don't like that tail"....then just walked over and cut it off.......Then the mods began and I searched the internet for inspiration. I still wanna omit the air box and delete the mufflers, but until I master the way of the carb......they are on hold.

I'm near Williamsport.....what would they call that? North East Central PA? Roughly an hour or so from Wilkes-Barre if I cut across 118.......Where abouts are you located?
