Uni Filter question/fitment

XsjadoTwin

Been Around the Block
I have a 75 cl360 and have been looking into Uni Filters (HondaCB/CL 350/450 Twin NU-4001)

My question is how is the fitment with the battery in its stock location? I had noticed while removing the stock air box and filters that the right side had a little angle in the boot going from the carb to the filter to get around the battery.

Also what are the dimensions of the filter itself? I have searched the part number (NU-4001) and i keep seeing two distinctly different filter styles. One seems to be a long 6" cylindrical pod style filter, and the other seems to be a box style OEM replacement. I am not planning on using the stock air box or side covers.

When I went to my local shop and ordered the filters the sales rep looked up the filters but when I asked about the dimensions he said the catalog did not give him size specs.

Anyone have pics of these installed on a CL/CB?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. Thanks in advance.

Is that part number NU-4001? I have a feeling the guy at the shop just ordered what the catalog told himto rather than ordering what iI asked for.

Like I said the filters I keep seeing when searching that part number are about 6-8" long and are grey. When i went to the shop I asked for a 50mm (ID) uni filter and he insisted on using the one which was "made for the bike" now I'm worried the length of the filter will be too long. It gets delivered tomorrow so I guess I'll just have to wait and see

Stock Jetting.

But I do get a lot of popping on Decel, a little stutter on throttle, but plugs show slightly rich, not lean, so I left it alone. It does run well and the front wheel lifts slightly on take off when the timing is fresh and the carbs well synced. After a couple of weeks, the tune goes away and the front wheel doesn't lift at all....Refresh timing and sync, and she is good to go again...

Camn't wait for Electronic ignition for her, eliminates one of the routine adjustments. Points are quaint, but they wear out quickly.

I am going to stock air boxes , as it ran better with them...I went to pods a long time ago (foam, not the emgo) and they improved the upper RPM power, but the low end became balky. I lived with it and replaced then with the UNI's, but I am going to remove the paper part of the element and put bulk UNI foam on, and go back to stock completely. Quieter intake, better low end, and I like it to be stock. I would put stock pipes back on if I can find a nice pair.

The small performance increase from the pods and muffler, with the accompanying loss of smooth low end is just niot worth it. I am not racing, and the small increase is really a waste unless you are looking for the 0.01 second 1/4 mile improvement. I am not a racer, so stock she is going...

The UNI is UP-4200AST 2 Stage Pod (Angled) 2" ID x 4" HGT

The angle is 15 deg, BTW.
