VM30 L & R carb choke setup help, please.

I picked up a couple incomplete mikunis off of ebay. slides springs and tops are missing, but the rest is intact. No mounting hardware or linkages, either and I do not know what they came off of. They are Left and Right carbs, and the left side carb has a working horizontal plunger for the choke. I am having trouble locating any resources on how the L and R carb chokes and linkages are supposed to work together. Thank you.
 
normally the chokes are not linked you have one lever per carb

if they are cable chokes then you use a splitter 2 into 1 cable
 
if the mikuni bodies are non proprietary (some were made for specific snow mobile companies)

then you can order the parts from a mikuni dealer

if you post a picture of the carb and the choke bore i may be able to tell you if it is standard or not

i know polaris and arctic cat used a different choke thread type than standard mikuni vm

then there is also one real larger thread size i have seen but not identified

i have some of the different bits in a box somewhere
 
thanks for the help and information, turns out they arent vm30s they are vm28s for a yamaha banshee, I am gonna resell them on ebay and try again. The one side has a working pull choke so I may adapt it and get another 28 and just run those. super annoying though. Ill have to do a little adapting from 2 to 4 stroke .
 
If you have the late model Banshee carbs with TORS tops you need to get the replacement tops.
I have a couple of slides that won't work for me as the guide slot is on the 'wrong' side
The choke is a total non-issue, you use the cable choke from any VM Mikuni on both, they are available aftermarket from various places in anodized aluminium (I have a few of the OEM plastic tops) Use the cable choke plunger

I need to get new tops and slides, they were missing anyway. I think the one carb is just an enrichment port, and not an actual choke.

I use a pull up choke on right carb and the lever on left.
You could also use a link bar between levers but I don't like to do that when there are no mountings between carb to keep themin line. Cable choke is another option
 
thanks for posting up those pics. Problem is, I've learned these are actually vm28s off of a Yamaha Banshee. I am gonna make them work, though. One carb has a choke and its linked to an enrichment port on the other, which has no real choke.
 
Strange, I haven't seen that on Banshee carbs, only Suzuki T/GT250
Dead easy then all you need is a longer tube between carbs.
28's should work even better than 30's, they will support around 30+bhp each (if you used single carb for both cylinders)
Flow isn't a problem. (Single VM32 will support around 45~50bhp)
I've used as 'small' as VM26 on 391cc 'CJ250' which was good for 120mph 8)
 
I was planning to use two carbs for two cylinders, I hadnt even considered using a single carb for both. Triumph 650 used one single 30mm Amal carb, I dont see why I couldnt run a single 28 on my two cylinder 360. With the proper jetting of course.
 
I didn't mean to use one, just pointing out you don't need big carbs for max performance
