That's the oil pump gasket.. Looks like your taking that back out..

Thanks Mark, the only tricky thing is finding a way to take off the retainer nut again since I lost the Honda spanner for it.

I don't suppose I could live without putting it on? :

It would bother me as well just knowing I didn't put a piece of the puzzle back where it was... You obviously put new gaskets on a lot of the bike since you had a gasket you didn't know what it was for... Some of the "special" tools are cheap and nice to have around for future use. And then there is fabing your own which is an even less expensive option if you trust yourself to make your own tools. ;D . good luck!
