Vintage Hein Gericke / Harley Davidson Leather Jacket

I picked up this jacket for $65 at a thrift shop. It had really bad mildew stains and was stiff. After a few good scrubs with a soft sponge (which is key) and lexol cleaner it started coming back to life. If you do this get a good ph balanced cleaner and conditioner, just do your research. I'm not promoting a brand, just telling you what I used and that it worked. You want to kill the mold and not harm the leather at the same time. I re-dyed the faded areas with black leather dye, conditioned it, then did a protective coating of leather weather shield stuff. It came out great and is super soft. I wish I had taken some before pictures.

Thanks! I'm thinking about going around to some local thrift shops and picking up a few more to restore just for fun. If I do I'll post some of the stuff up on here. You can't go wrong on these old jackets for the little bit of work it takes to make them come back to life.
