That look fun so far. At least your is rideable.
I'm diving right in with tear-down. Sticking with spoke wheels, got a Manx tank and long seat on order. I'm using a long tail seat to relocate the battery under it. Going to fab a box to put the rectifier, etc out of sight tucked against the seat bottom to keep the clear area. Using pod air filiters, too, so I can open up the bike and make it seem lighter.
Been working with Carpy from cb750cafe.com on a Dresda style boxed swingarm for my project.
Sent him a stock arm and he just sent me this to trial fit.
I'm really excited to use this and will take pictures as I go along.

I cant see your pictures at work here, but have you looked more in to the pods on the DOHC's? They dont like em and perform much better with the box. Reason I went back to my box.

You are gonna like this swingarm, but it still uses a vintage style dual shock. I'm going to fab an aluminum plenum for my bike. Got a ways to go before that.
I am using stock control locations and a 4-1 exhaust, so I ground off the big left side pillion peg mount tab and have removed the center stand mounts. That means the swingarm will be in plain view from the left side.
Here's my frame after I finished removing all the tabs and center stand.
Did some paint removal and forge mark smoothing on my triple clamps.
Notice the "original" surface rust under the factory paint on the lower? I haven't ground down the casting marks on that part yet. The upper clamp is ground but not final sanded. I will paint all three as soon as I have my paint scheme down.
If the lower looked as good I'd leave it bare and clear coat it... but the lower gets paint so I'll match them.
I don't remember how i got that off. I have all sorts of tools in metric & standard, pullers, spanners and all from over the years. Something worked because its off. ;D
My tank just arrived from Benjie yesterday. Here is a quick fit shot with seat pan.
I want to quickly add that I just tossed these parts on before going out for the evening which explains some of the misfit issues with the seat.
The RocCity seat was chosen to give me the most leeway to modify it to fit my design. I plan to narrow the front to fit the back of the gas tank. Also the back of the seat (where the taillight goes) will be shorter with a recessed taillight and license bracket.
Getting the tank enables me to finally start some fabrication.
Did a test fit of the swingarm today along with putting one of my shocks on.
Basically I am look at alignment and measuring wheel travel so I can finish mockup of my seat area, battery move to rear, etc.
Need to do this before I send the frame to powdercoat.
I removed the fender brace and am mocking up an aluminum plate
that will follow the frame top from under the seat and all the way back
before bending upwards to fill the tail section.
The panel will rivet to the frame to strengthen the rear and spread the shock loads.
My electrics will be in there. Plan to add a small scoop with a slot to send air through and vent out the back either side a round taillight.
Probably put brass screen in vents for a steam punk look.
Need to do some glass work on the seat pan area to fill in the areas cut out for fabrication and detail the underside in the back as that will be painted, too.
And, yes, it will clear the tire at full compression.
Nice bike. I cant wait to see it come together so get to work.I noticed the pics on the walls in the pics whats the story there. I see a colorado race truck and an rx7 are they yours?
