78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

I got the seat back from the upholsters and they did a great job. I love the leather and diamond pattern. Also started final assembly and getting the wiring all finished.

    CB750 Rebuild won't start

With many hours of head scratching I finally got it running. The valve clearences were a bit off which didn't help but it turned out to be the wires from the harness going into the coils. I had yellow to yellow and blue to blue but after swapping them she started roughly but then got a lot...

    CB750 Rebuild won't start

Just checked compression and I am getting 60-80 psi on each cylinder dry and 130 wet. Since It's not a warm engine I believe that's pretty good. Also checked the camshaft and found it was set just as the manual stated. Pistons 1 and 4 at TDC, notch on camshaft up and the timing mark on T for...

    CB750 Rebuild won't start

I've mapped the coils to the correct cylinders. There happened to be tags on each spark plug wire indicating 1,2,3,4. There is only one way for the rotor to go in because of a set pin I do believe. I also don't have the kill switch on accidentally.

    CB750 Rebuild won't start

After doing a full rebuild on my 78 CB750F my worst fears are becoming reality. I can't get her to start for anything. Here are the bullet points to help describe what I've done so far. -Full engine tear down. I've taken everything apart down to the crankcase separated. -Rebuilt engine using...

Just got the frame back from the powder coaters today! I'm still waiting on the seat from the upholster's but it's not going to keep me from putting th engine back in, wheels on and start working on the electronics.

78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

I dropped off the seat pan today for covering. I now have the upholstery shop and powdercoating shop racing against each other for which can finish first. It should give me some time to powdercoat most of the little items so I can finish this long project up and get on the road. It's been too...

78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

I've also thought about putting graphics on the tank and have come up with this so far. Any opinions?

78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

I had access to a medium blaster and everything went in there including the rims. I knew that I wanted to paint them and unfortunately powder coating was not an option because of the plastic clips holding the spokes to the rims would have melted right off. So I just rattle can painted them. I...

    1978 CB750F Piston rings

After pulling apart my Honda I started looking for all of the replacement parts needed to build her back up again and I can not find piston rings for this machine anywhere! Apparently 77-78 supersport rings are super rare now and they've all been used up. I found this original post...

78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

Here is the definitive turning point. Powder coating! I purchased an Eastwood system on sale and I am real happy with all the possibilities there are for doing my own work. I found a free, working oven on Craigslist and was all set to go. I did a couple of test runs with scraps and love the...

78 CB750F- Putting her back together!

In what seems like forever, I've started making progress in getting the bike put back together. The bead blasting process took up the most of my time and these last couple pieces were major pains. The crankcase was also at the machinist's getting those two bolts removed and then needed...
