It is an air impact, but admittedly, it's a pretty low end one, and the compressor in my basement is probably a little small. Sounds like I might just have to keep calm and carry on, and tackle this after I get the crank out.
So that's a no on the heat then?

I don't see anything in the manual about LH, and I pulled a picture of the part up, and it looks to be RH threaded. I'm not really an expert here either though, so if someone tells me I'm wrong that is RH I'll gladly welcome that response.

It wouldn't matter either way. The engine isn't in the frame, so the most that would add is the resistance of the bearings in the transmission.... If I'm crushing a penny, I don't think that will be enough to keep it from spinning.
My thought is this needs to get more scientific than brute...
Long story short, I am in the middle of an engine tear down of my 79 cb750k. I realize I may have gotten a little ahead of myself and have already pulled the top end. As many of you I am sure know this has lead to issues keeping the bottom end from spinning while trying to losen the various...
I am having an issueissues with my cam chain tensioner not coming out of the head. I'll start by saying that the tensioner lock bolt snapped when I tried to remove it.... which seemed weird. I drilled the bolt out and am currently planning on using a helicoil to fix the threads. I am also...
Subscribed. There went my Sunday morning. Amazing build man. Wish I had some of your skills/tools. Looks like it's getting close, can't wait to see how she turns out.
Pulled my ignition cover off today and oil started coming out. As such I didn't leave the cover off long enough to investigate. Is there supposed to be oil in there or not?
That makes sense as long as it is idling properly, which it isn't. I feel like I need to get that somewhat close first... that said, good news everyone, I fattened her up a full turn on the idle mix screws and my hanging idle seems to have mostly gone away. I guess she really was way too...
1. Primary jets aren't new... but they're pressed in if I remember correctly. Is there anything I can do about that?
2. Spark appears to be fine. I haven't had any ignition issues.
3. I'll have to check the chains next time I'm in the head.
4. Stator was replaced before I picked up the...
You're right about a blocked filter fattening it up... good point. That said, filter seems fine, or at least close enough, and it is the stock box and exhaust. After going through the manual though I am not as close to having the pilot screws set as I thought. I am the initial setting out...
Checked the filter on my lunch break. It's original, but it seems to be fairly clean yet. Will take a compressor to it to see what might come out, but my guess is not much.

Bone stock. I've seen the filter in the box, thouh I've never pulled it. Based on the originality of everything else I've been through on the bike I'm assuming it's original. Because of that I'll assume it's dirty, which might account for some of my lean condition. I'll check it out either...
