    74 CB450 - Hodge Podge

thanks for the clarification and examples. I really like the second bike. but this bike will never see a track, nor be ridden like if it was to be raced on a track. it's being built purely based on the aesthetics of the bikes I like looking at. So if it's a brat, so be it. Or if its a tracker...

Yeah, I'm not really sure what to "classify" the style as. I look at trackers and brats mostly, so it's sort of both. I figure brat style bikes have more of a sloping tail section and a slightly higher bars. I'm just trying to keep everything even and low to the ground.

    74 CB450 - Hodge Podge

Thought id start a thread documenting my build so far. I started off with a stock cb450 back in Sept/Oct. And this is where its at now. It's a good mix of parts from all different makes. American, Japanese and English. Still have a bunch more to do, but so far: -Euro Bars -Amal grips -Lowered...

aesthetics. -no master cyclinder -drums look cleaner -18" front wheel to match 18" rear to run similar tires.

I'm in the process of fitting a cb350 drum brake front wheel onto my cb450 which had a disc setup. The spacing is off by a .25" and I'm using a couple of washers to make up for the spacing. Do you guys think this is a safe idea? I couldn't source a solid spacer, so I ordered washers that are...

Shorter fork tubes = shorter springs?

Thanks PJ, what are the "closed" springs that you speak of?

Shorter fork tubes = shorter springs?

how is that going to shorten the overall length of the fork tube? i want to cut about 2 inches off the fork tubes, cause they stick out above the triples too much.

Shorter fork tubes = shorter springs?

I dont think i understand that diagram. Isnt #8 the fork tube that i want to cut down?

Shorter fork tubes = shorter springs?

Revamping this thread. I'm considering chopping down my fork tubes on a cb450. I've heard that all you need to do is rethread the tops and you should be good to go. do the 550/750 tubes work for 450s? they are both 35mm cyclexchange sells shortened tubes as well for for cb750s at $150 a pair...

    gold mine

Thanks for doing this! I'm looking for a front wheel/hub/drum off of a late model cb350 or a cl450. It should be a 36 hole 18" rim.
