Looks like a late 60s -early 70s Bendix for all Big Twin and Sportster Harleys. The age can be determined (approx.) by the AMF Harley-Davidson casting on the side. AMF owned Harley from 69 to 77. As far as I know all Bit Twins (FLH, FX, FXE, etc) and Sportsters used the same Bendix carb. Dave

Yeah...They claim that vibration is reduced, but I've ridden a rubber mount and it shakes as much as my 92 frame mount. Funny thing is, people talk about how bad the Sportster vibrates, but after riding a Yamaha XS-650 and a 1964 Norton Atlas, the Sportster seems a smooth as a baby's a**...

In 2004 they went to rubber mounted engines. Added width and weight to the Sportsters and reduced lean angle and agility.

All the kidding and H-D hating aside, I've owned a number of Harleys from 1951 Pans to my current one, a 1992 Sportster. I gave up riding big garbage barges and went with Harley's sport bike. Other than being in a war and getting shot at, he was very lucky. To have been able to fly in BOTH of those magnificent aircraft is enough to make me jealous. Dave

Can they be fitted with baffles from other pipes? I like a quieter ride than these look like they would provide, but I like the look of the mufflers. dave

I need help trying to find out what these mufflers are. I got them off eBay and the seller thought they were old Triumph pipes but wasn't sure. Any help will be appreciated! Dave

I have put the idea on hold for now and not really pursued it. It is still a possibility in the future, but for now I plan to leave it about like it is. Dave
