You could probably get them through Yamaha mate. They made the SR250 until a few years ago, so shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise a keyster kit off ebay may be alright, just use the new jets you got.

Early 80's (81 to 83 I think) XT250 & TT250 cams will fit. I have an 81 TT250 cam in mine. I do have one (SR250) cam from a 2002 model. But there is some rust on the lobes, so I'm not sure you'd want it

I made a frame for the seat and cut a notch in the seat pan to make it work. Not completely happy with the result but it still works after a year of riding it. I didn't get it as low to the guard as the grey SR there. I'll have another go at some stage Sent from my GT-S7500T using Tapatalk 2

I think '84 they changed the xt250 engine to a 4 valve 4 stroke. A whole different engine. The earlier xt250 was a 2 valve 4 stroke just like your SR. Engines are mostly the same. Bore, and kick start are the only differences I am aware of. Sorry for confusing things on you.

Sorry should have said yesterday. The xt has to have been a 2 valve type so early 80's. The engines are nearly identical. A 4 valve will be different. Just thought I should ad that

The xt250 has a 75mm bore, the sr250 has a 73.5mm bore. But the stroke is the same. I'm not sure if its a direct swap on the barrels or not. Something I going to look into if my wife ever stops spending all my cash (unlikely :) ) Don't know about the carbs sorry.

Cmsnl is excellent if you have the '80 to '82 models. The parts catalogue images they have should help you work out how they go back together. Newer models they don't cover. There is a SR250 forum. Its mainly inactive but they do have a workshop manual and parts catalogue in their resources...

Its a bit of a shame to see it fall by the wayside. But you've come to similar conclusions I have with my SR. I'm gunna stick with mine for now and try a few things with it. Maybe I should start taking some photos and start a build thread as well. Mainly because for me this a learning bike...

Have you thought of just getting an xt250 or a tt250 cylinder, at the 4th over bore (40 thou or 1mm). That should be 76mm, not quite there but closer. But everything should still line up from what I've been told. Just a thought

Did you end up with any troubles with your carby float height from dropping your forks through your triple trees? I am I just lucky? Great looking bike by the way, having fun riding it.

Re: '84 SR250 Garage build. Solo Tracker now, Cafe later. Liking how you've gone with this so far. How have you found the 40t sprocket? Still got a 16t front sprocket? And how has the Velocity stack treated you? Look forward to seeing more from you soon.
