    72 CB450 Carb tuning

Hey thanks for the reply. I was starting to get a little worried. I'm haven't had time to mess with it much this week anyhow. But I certainly will this weekend. I did some googling about the advance springs and read a lot of similar issues being caused by those. Thanks for pointing me in...

    72 CB450 Carb tuning

Well, I let it be for a bit while I did a few other things. Went back out, fired her up and straight to 4k RPMs. So obvisouly I didn't fix much of anything. How to I find the vacuum leak?

    72 CB450 Carb tuning

OK, I've replaced the carb gaskets and now it'll fire up on first kick and idle right at 1.1k. However, if I rev above 3k it'll stay there. Also getting a popping out of right carb at higher RPMs. So, I am thinking timing issue. Any thoughts? Thanks

    72 CB450 Carb tuning

OK, it was a fuel issue. I ran the tubing a bit too tight. So, I reran it using clear tubing and now I can see the fuel going into the bowls. She turns over now on the first kick (starter doesn't work). However, it'll idle around 1k for a few seconds then race up to 4.5k and not back off...

    72 CB450 Carb tuning

Got it, I've gotta work this afternoon but I'll check it out in the am and post back. Thanks. I reran the fuel tubing, the old stuff was cracked and leaking so I suppose I may have crimped it or gave it too much slack.

    72 CB450 Carb tuning

Hi Guys, I've got a 72 CB450 that I recently purchased non-running. I've replaced the points, set the timing per the manual (which i did without a timing light since I can't get it to stay running long enough to use one), taken apart the carbs, cleaned and put back together and I can now get...

    Charging a dead Battery

Hey thanks guys. I left it one a few more days and nothing. Such a pain in the ass. The bike is brand new to me, previous guy claimed new battery. Finally got the bike to start and it ran pretty rough. Rebuilt the carbs, new points, and was trying to start her up to set the timing and...

    Charging a dead Battery

Hey thanks, tried the jumper cables, it worked. But the bike battery won't hold a charge. I've left it hooked up to the battery tender for 2 days now and it is still hovering at 5 volts. If I take the tender off, it starts to drop fairly quick. Guessing the battery is just wasted. Guess I'll...

    Charging a dead Battery

Hey guys, I have a less than one year old battery that I let sit for a few weeks on the bike without disconnecting. I always disconnect it when it is going to sit, but I forgot. Anyhow, the battery is showing too low voltage for the "smart charger" to charge it. Any tricks to either fool the...

    New Guy- CB450

Thank guys, I really appreciate it. I just kind of lucked into it. When I saw it across the street the tank and seat were not on it, nor were the box covers. So I really wasn't sure what I was getting, but I know I needed it. Weird feeling. Anyway, priority is getting her running clean. But I...

    New Guy- CB450

Hey thanks. Here's the first pic. It had only been sitting in my driveway for about 10 minutes at this point and some of the parts are just sitting on it. The air box cover doesn't have anything else behind it. The previous owner bought air pod filters, but I don't think he ever got around...

    New Guy- CB450

Hey guys, I picked up a 72 CB450 about a month ago and I was looking for a place to find some good info. I have already found some good stuff on this site so I thought it was time for me to at least register and say thanks for everything. I have never restored a bike before, or even worked...
