Excuse me I misspoke. It's actually pipes 2 and 4 that are cold while 1 and 3 get up to temp. And yes I did check the wires to make sure they were in the correct order, 1&4 on the left 2&3 on the right.
Gotta 79 honda cb650 that i cant seem to get working right. I wired the bike up and got it running but cylinders 1 and 3 don't appear to be firing. I say this because after running the bike these pipes are cool enough the touch where as the others are very hot. I checked and was getting spark in...
Thanks for the info. Funny you mention "saw through". I had to get new cylinder jugs because something very similar seemed to happen to me. I was leaking oil from the front of the engine when I first got the bike. I thought it was a crappy gasket or warping or something, just kept an eye on the...
Did not check compression. Im also thinking cam chain. I meticulously torqued and checked each bolt during the rebuild so Im almost certain that isn't the case. I was messing with the timing which in doing so I managed to keep it running sort of without the choke full open but did nothing for...
Ive got a pretty substantial tick/slapping noise going on in what sounds like the top/mid engine. Gets louder with acceleration and was there before the engine tear down. I adjusted the valves when rebuilding the top end and installed new exhaust header gaskets as well (maybe ruling out exhaust...
I fixed my leaky carb issue and was finally able to get the bike running for longer than a few seconds. The bike will run on full choke but if i don't keep feathering the throttle the bike will shut off. As soon as i push the choke back in the bike dies. Any ideas? what should i start trouble...
I have a 79 cb650 and I hate the choke set up. I hate putting it on and taking if off if need be. I hate how they always seem to fail in some way and now that Ive changed up the stock handlebar set up there doesn't seem to be a good place to put it. I really like the manual lever at the carbs...
I have a 1979 cb650 and got to the start up phase yesterday after a long build. I used a remote tank and went to start her up when gas started to pour from the carb bleed nipples at the bottom as if the screws were fully open. From the left it was the 1st and 3rd carbs that were leaking I...
So im wiring up a new start/kill switch on my 1979 cb650 and i redid a bit of the wiring so now im not sure how this switch wires up. http://www.thisoldtractor.com/moto_guzzi_tonti_handlebar_switch_-_k_s_12-0203.html This is a link to the switch with a diagram showing which wires do what. This...
I'm by no means trying to make this bike into something its not. The engineers responsible for these bikes built them to perform as they are and its a bullet proof design. I just think the shorter pipes give it a sportier more minimalistic look which is what I'm trying to achieve. If i have to...
It's an EMGO reverse cone shorty megaphone exhaust muffler. They are not stock mufflers. These are a bit smaller at 18 inches than stock which were 26 inches.
If i go from 26 inch mufflers to 17 inch mufflers running a stock intake system will there be a back pressure issue? I have a 1979 cb650 and Ive heard that shortening the mufflers may have this effect. Anybody have experience with this?
