The gelcoat does not need to be primed unless you have flaws to bodywork or else break through to the glass underneath. Sand with 400 grit paper if you are planning on painting it a solid color, if you are planning to paint it a metallic I would usually go to 600 grit.
I agree, that would be the safest bet. Nothing like topcoating something and having it wrinkle because then you will have to strip it down to the substrate. ;)
yup its a 2 part system, fricken bulletproof. love the shit. You can even get it in transparent colors that can go over chrome. super cool, check it out! (no, I dont work for por 15) heh heh. I use it in my paintshop.
Por 15 makes a clear that goes directly over metal,chrome, aluminum etc. Its called glisten pc. I have used it for many apps. It works great.
