Can you dig it?

Def can dig it. As a father to a 10 year old daughter that's the kind of YouTube vid I'd happily have her watch.

I almost ran into one of those people when I was carving the mountains on my motorcycle.

My wife would kill me if she knew that I hope my daughter gets into that one day. Former skater/freestyler myself.

I can definitly dig it.

Just move to a place that has perfect hills for carving and sliding. I see kids doing it all the time.

Man. Love longboarding. Got to the point when my collection of boards was ridiculous (10ish?) so i started making my own. It's nice to see a focus on female riders in a quality video. Now i just wish i had more time for all of my hobbies (dont we all?)

Great vid, but sooooo exposed. My son broke a collarbone skating home from the ramp years ago and his son, broke both wrists in separate skating accidents at the local skate park. All those were at much lower speeds than in the video. Gotta love the fun they are having though.

It's true, Teazer, but look at it this way: these girls are sorta the cafe racers of the boarding world. Yeah, there are risks, but that's half the fun. I hear people say the same thing about us on bikes, exposed, under-protected, etc.

I'm sorry to hear about your family's accidents, in the same way I'm sorry to hear about all the bike accidents that happen to people I know and don't know. But yeah, Swivel, wrist braces for what they're doing should be worn. Prepare for the worst and have fun.

Being a non-former-board-skater, how does one halt a 30 mph downhill rip (other than the obvious and unintentional)? I went down on a set of blades in college, and it resembled a rag doll being pitched down the stairs.

IIRC........hitting a dime-sized rock does an efficient job. :-[

That did a great job of stopping my bOard, the ground did a fairly good job of stopping me shortly after.

There are a few options for loosing speed going that fast (or faster, ive done close to 80km/hr). You a) spread your arms and stand up straight to wind break. b) drag your pushing foot (foot break) c) slide stop or speed check (similar to stopping/speed checking with a snowboard) d) bail or e) ride off into the grass, or ride out the hill until you stop :)

That was f'n awesome, thanks for posting it.
I literally just came in from a session on my garage half pipe with my son and some friends when I saw that last night. I love skateboarding and am soo stoked that my son is now interested in skating with me. I love carving hills on longboards too ever since I picked up my first Sector 9 back in 1997 in Santa Cruz, may boards ago.
My wife has a nice G&S longboard with some funky trucks that can turn and pump pretty sharply. She hasn't ridden it much but I showed her that video and she really liked it.
