Ah a 'seal puller' ? This sounds amazing im definitely on it.
Haha honestly i would almost feel better knowing i did that. I'm pretty sure the previous owner was in a rush or something. No c-clip and the bottom allen head bolt that holds the innards wasnt as tight as it should have been. :/...
Atleast I think so....Well hopefully the pictures will say it all. Im waiting on tires to be mounted so i decided to replace the seals while i wait.
So does this need to come out? If so it looks pretty beat up around there from the previous owner..there wasnt even a snap ring on it..
What are...
Aha absolutely not I feel like for the money it'd be a great investment. Well when I purchase a new battery I'll forsure throw you an order! I appreciate the input.
My previous bike I went through two batteries in less than a year just by letting it sit or not having it charge...
Okay SO I am well aware of the big warning in red letters about the 30 day old post but I have some excellent news.
With the advancer fixed, the condenser GROUNDED correctly the bike fired up in 2-3 kicks. Hmm yeah so a bit embarrassing but now I have this thing running like a champ.
So I'm...
frogman thanks for the info - I have that saved in my notes now.
So I got the advancer cleaned up and it feels exactly how it should. It doesnt drag or get stuck in one position anymore ::) It was completely stuck open, full advanced when it was sitting on the bike. Would the advancer being...
Yeah it's such a simple mechanical piece but i'm pretty lost when I try to read up on it. :(
Seriously debating about just saving some money these next couple weeks to get an electronic issue. For under 200 that seems like it could save me a lot of worry later down the road. But then...
Okaay so it definitely does NOT look right..like you said it looks like it's already a tad bit advanced just by looking at the springs.
So...Maybe explain to me like i'm five how this advancer unit works. How does it work? The faster it spins the more it advances the timing? Whats the relation...
Okay well thats shitty news and good news! Perhaps I'll just start fresh with one thats in better condition. well..im sorry this bike is a POS.
Yeaaaahh about that little screw..i've been using a flat head to torque that sucker down. I promise thats the only screw thats like that. :-*
I'm...
The small little dot on the end of the camshaft is right around 2:00 o'clock. Hard to tell with the pictures but if i zoom in on my phone you can see it.
Sorry for making another post but I have one more question.
If i were to take off the points plate and snap a quick picture of it would you be able to tell if it's 180 off? Or would I need to take it off and find some reference point.
What i'm getting at is I can make a quick stop to my...
You know what...now that you mention the advancing unit that makes the most sense to me. The timing is not 180 degrees out, i've made sure of this by making sure its on compression stroke(mentioning timing off the points). The wires are correct coming from the points/condenser/coils, theirs...
The points dont arc anymore which makes sense having the condenser grounded now. I hate missing little things like that..
So I noticed after I kicked it over about a million times my plugs were dry. I'm getting a decent little blue arc on both plugs when I ground them to the engine so im back...
Hopefully this will do some justice for you my friend-
