As not to get too much into a sad story, I once owned a beautiful '02 Ducati Monster 750 dark. I had it stored away in a garage for the winter at my friend's home. Long story short, their house burned with my bike inside. The worst part is that I took insurance off the bike for the winter...
So I just moved into a new place and finally have room to finish up my project cb360 http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=19464.0 - yup, it's been awhile.
Anyway, everything is good to go except I let a fellow bike builder (not associated with this forum) use my welder in exchange...
That Gibbs brand stuff looks like some awesome shit. If nothing else, I have a lot of bare aluminum that I could use something like that on. If you visit the Gibbs Website there is a bare steel '36 roadster protected with the stuff! Badass! The duracoat stuff is pretty interesting too. Great...
As far as the nickel plating goes - one trip through the wire wheel on the bench grinder takes care of what's left of that. I've done one test spoke and it came out well.
I really want the raw blue steel look so nobody's talking me into powder/zinc coating.
Any suggestions on something to...
Yep. That's why I would like some recommendations for something to apply over the blued steel. Basically, bluing is just a chemical reaction that turns the steel a bluish/black color. The metal is still vulnerable to rusting. Hence the need for a layer of protection.
I really don't want to...
I'm getting the rims powder coated black and thought I might just clean up the stock spokes/nipples and blue them. My only issue is that I want to put some kind of protection over this as I live in IL and the humidity, as well as other conditions, would have these things rusting like a mother...
So I'm finally getting back into the project and my next big decision prior to getting the frame painted is how I'm going to route the exhaust. I would like to do a two into one setup with a shorty muffler. Am I asking for issues by doing this?
Personally, I would stay away from the mink oil. They can contain many "unnatural" chemicals that may not be good for the leather in the long run. The natural beeswax stuff is the way to go. I used to use mink oil until I did a little research about what goes into it. Obenauf's makes some...
I'm thinking ground floor apartment. I'll be in Evanston, more specifically, so I may be able to find a house with some cool roommates as well. Basically, I have between now and May 9th to find a place and move.
A company that I interviewed with back in January recently contacted me and made a good offer so I'll be moving to Chicago in a couple weeks. More specifically, I will be looking for a place in Evanston.
I'm hoping to get the build as close to done as possible before I move. I know I haven't...
So I'm looking for some new tires to fit my stock 1974 CB360 rims. It seems 90/90-18 front and 100/90-18 rear is the recommended stock tire size. The issue I'm having is finding a tire that has those sizes in a front/rear application within the same tire model.
I don't want to spend a ton of...
