I have the same bike, I took a punt and bought a cb550 tank. It took a little bit of modification to fit but looks a hell of a lot better than the stock tank.

I am at the same place with my 250n. namnam did you even get a cx500 top triple to fit? I can see the difference between a cb250n top triple and a cx500. Just wondering if you can just machine out the back of the cx500 where fits to the stem for it to slide further in so the nut can be put on...
