Rear sets, when did they "arrive"

come on Hoof, you know that you can't be a legit boy cafe racer ton up rockabilly icon without clip-ons! I mean, every single cafe-racer back in the day rocked 70's Hondas with fiberglass seats, rear-sets off of a sport-bike, and clipons

Of blowouts and the motorcycle brethren.

I get excited when i see an old bike/car on the side of the road... because that means I get unexpected wrench time!

Rear sets, when did they "arrive"

I'm 6'2", and don't have rearsets on my CB350F... Might put some on someday, but I find that with clubmans (mainly due to my long as hell arms) the bike is still eminently comfortable. I also have grown to prefer the "sitting" position while tooling around town. Might gall some of the Cafe...

How did you first get your taste of motorcycling?

I was like 8yo, riding a Three-Wheeler in a little figure 8 track in the Desert... Flipped that thing onto myself about 5 times, but I so small that I never got hurt... Rolled it back over and rode it until the gas ran out.

    1973 CB350F - "Shakespeare"

Allrighty, bike has been fully serviced, new tires, new drive-chain, Balance and truing. Some issues: Rear Wheel has a small "hop" to it, even though it is balanced and true, noted this with the old set of tires also. Any thoughts? And compression reads as follows. 1: 110 2: 140 3: 110 4: 150...

A Morning Ride - The Ton

Oh man, I wish I had a workshop. This whole "wrenching on the sidewalk" thing gets awful old after a while... A perk is that every time I have the bike out someone parks and stops to talk to me about it. And frame away... If it's all the same to everyone I'm actually going to go back and...

something every shade tree mechanic should read

I have an Extinguisher mounted on the transmission tunnel in my MG, one in my Kitchen, and one on my back porch. I got pretty badly burnt as a child because I stole some two-stroke mix from my pops and went out into the woods to have a little bonfire... Next thing I know I've got flames running...

Thanks for the praise guys. I actually was a published poet, as little as that means these days. I try to do little essays like this as often as possible to keep the writing chops sharp, if you guys enjoyed this one, I'll try to knock one out every once in a while. I'm no beachcomber, but I like...

A Morning Ride - The Ton

Oh, I'm sure the speedo was optimistic, If I had to take a guess, it was more like 85-90 (and that's me being optimistic)... That being said, If anyone asks, my bike said I did the Ton, and why would it lie to me? ;) Then again, I was tucked in as far as I would go, and Redlining in top...

A Morning Ride - The Ton

I walked out of my House this morning at 0615. The sun had just come up, it was 60 degrees and everything was covered in dew. I had washed and waxed the bike the day before, and the droplets of water were beaded up perfectly on the bike, glinting like a scattered crystal. For a few minutes I...
