I think I'm gonna go with these. Dime City for $55 each.

What tank(s) will fit on a Yamaha Maxim XJ550 without too much fabrication?

Yeah, I just made the seat and got it upholstered, it cost me around $200 total haha. I'd like to keep it. Just didn't know if there were any seats that would fit stock or with little fabrication.

Will do. I'm assuming this would work on the engine as well? I'm new to all of this

Awesome. There are a ton on DimeCity, so I guess I'll have to figure out exactly what I want to do! I can't decide which look I like more.

Would those fit with relative ease onto my current exhaust?

*Need exhaust ideas for my 1982 Yamaha XJ550!*

I've had a ton of people tell me they love the way it sounds as is. I like it as well. I'm really just wanting some mufflers to add to the look of the bike.

Those look sick! I actually saw some pretty similar on a build thread and was wondering where to find them. Was also possibly thinking something like this: Not sure which one I like better.

Here's another pic where you can kind of see the exhaust. This was before I did a LOT of work on it!

I'm planning on pulling my exhaust and wrapping it, then adding either some CHROME or BLACK tips to it, just wanted some ideas on what y'all think would be the best to do! Here's how it sits currently:

    My Tracker/Brat Project - 1982 Yamaha XJ550

What's the best way to get all of the grime/buildup off of the exhaust? I tried using a really course brush and soap/water, but I didn't have much luck with it.

    My Tracker/Brat Project - 1982 Yamaha XJ550

Re: My Tracker/Brat Project Hopefully this weekend I can get the exhaust off and at least cleaned. The painting will probably come once riding season is over, because I gotta have something to ride around all summer.

    My Tracker/Brat Project - 1982 Yamaha XJ550

Re: My Tracker/Brat Project Yeah, it's all custom. Added the hoop to the back, cut out a seat pan, then sent it to the upholsterer. It turned out perfect IMO.

My build and progress- 1982 Yamaha XJ550

Re: My build and progress Unfortunately, the tank is a little dinged up so the brushed look probably wouldn't work. Sucks, I love that look. I have the idea to put a 3-4" red stripe down the middle of the tank with black pinstriping. I also have black Yamaha fork decals that are gonna go on...

    My Tracker/Brat Project - 1982 Yamaha XJ550

Bought this bike for $700 in pretty rough shape. Everything is good with the motor, runs great. It was just really ugly. I'm making some progress on it though. Next step is getting that motor all painted black and wrapping my headers/exhaust. Still a long way to go.. Before: Now:
