    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Good to know, I'll check that out. Thanks man. Welcome aboard grcamna. I set the rear suspension to 1/2 inch past full compression, and started playing with a seat design tonight. The tire comes up about 1 and 1/2 inches past the top of the frame, so whatever I end up doing it'll have to have...

Well I'm done with fab work on my tank. I still need to clean/seal the inside, but I haven't decided what to do yet. Most of the inside is galvanized, but the areas where I welded it aren't. I would like to use something like Red Kote but I don't know if it would stick to the galvanizing, I know...

    CL175 sporty-resto

Nice job once again. I have some cl175 stuff, including carbs, that I plan to use on my build. Do you know what model carbs these are? I can't find any numbers on mine. Is it hit in Tucson yet? It's still cold and windy in Albuquerque.

    Bike Locks

If you drill your rotor be sure to chamfer the holes. With out the chamfers it eats through pads like a cheese grater.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure this is the limit, I've seen some much rattier choppers. But I haven't seen a cafe this ratty before. I might do some grinding on the top triple later, but I'm going to wait till I have the speedometer/switches worked out first. I should be done with the Cub soon...

    Custom GPZ550 (ZX550A and KZ550H)

I'll be following this. I think it's cool that you don't hesitate to modify or make things to be the way you want them. I like your handlebar switches, those came out really good. It looks like you have some cool machinery to work with too.

    New Mexico Represent!

I just found this thread. I live in Albuquerque. I don't do any riding tho, it's not as much fun when you have to push. ;D

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Tonight I rebuilt my head set (thats a bicycle term, is it the same for motorcycles?) and installed the yamaha headlight. No pics of the head set, but we've all seen greasy bearing balls before. I did find a surprise though, I guess whoever rebuilt the head set last lost some of the balls so...

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Are you saying my build isn't righteous!? ;D I'm leaning that way, since I have the mounts. Also I think the smaller headlight might look better on my Junk. I've been brainstorming what to make the rear bump out of. I'd like to find some recognizable object with the right shape to use. But it...

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Thanks Erskine. I haven't got much done lately, had a busy weekend. Also I decided to get my Cub going again. I cleaned the carb and tank, and it needs a new battery and headlight bulb. I'll be able to ride this while I work on Cheap Junk. Of course I have to work in a tight spot cause I...

    ZRX1100 - Let's upgrade some stuff.

I just read through this. I don't know much about Kawasaki's but it looks like you've done some nice upgrades. I'm jealous of you, riding in this warm weather. At the rate my projects go I prolly wont have mine running till winter. ::)

That's certainly something to keep in mind, thanks. For now I plan to build the original engine, I haven't even ridden this thing yet. I've been doing some small tinkering things. I started on the rest of the fuel system. I cleaned out the petcock and repaired some corrosion. I also took my...

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Glad to hear it, thanks guys. I think the tank looks bigger in the pics than real life. Its about 4 inches longer than the stock tank was, and that was for the upright cruiser style. Also I think this bike is on the small side being a 180. I've only sat on the bike for a minute at the most but...

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

I really didn't mean it as a snarky response. I guess I need to work on my phrasing. I know there are tons (get it?) of people on here with much more experience and knowledge than me, and being able to tap into that knowledge is one of my reasons for joining and starting this thread. So I'll...

    Cheap Junk, 1979 Honda Twinstar

Small update. I got my tank welded/brazed up. It also has a filler neck and cap now. All that's left is the front mounts and the petcock bung. Try telling someone you have to have to get a bung for your petcock. ;D Anyway, some pics. I also ordered a petcock from fleabay, it should be...
