Bike Locks

Hi guys and ladies

I have a garage for my bike and it wont often be left out on the street.

However there are times when I will not be near home and Im looking for a good lock.

Can anyone suggest a good wheel lock or otherwise, that does not involve a chain, that would be good for early to mid Honda 70's Honda Cb's?

Hope this isn't a dumb question and that Im in the right forum to be asking this.

Thanks so much!

Look for a disc lock. Small and clamps right to your brake rotor. You can even get them with motion alarms.

Thanks. I was looking at these but the rotor on my bike is solid. It doesn't have holes in it like the newer rotors. On these locks, they have a pin that would fit through the holes. The first pic is my rotor, and the second is a photo of rotors that could use the types of locks you linked.

Get your rotor drilled. Lighter and brakes will work better, and you'll have something to stick a lock in.

Youre psychic. Just before I read your message I found this:

Shop around, that seems high.

Yeah I agree. I looked on ebay and saw a spare rotor in good shape for like $25. I'll probably end up getting that and having it drilled. What should it cost to have a stock rotor drilled? No way am I going to pay $160 for a rotor. Nope.

thanks for your help. really appreciate it.

I've seen around 65-85$ or so depending, you might want to check in your local area first. It should be a super easy job for a local machine shop. If you have a drill press of your own, save the cash. Get or make a pattern first. Happy to help.

is any particular pattern more useful?

If you drill your rotor be sure to chamfer the holes. With out the chamfers it eats through pads like a cheese grater.
