    Paint fading under clearcoat?

Im just curious about this to see if I can keep some costs down on my paintjob. If my tank is spraybombed, then take it in to get professionally clearcoated, will the paint fade underneath the clearcoat? Or will the clearcoat provide ample protection? Thanks,
