    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Re: CB350 Squeaking Valve? GOT IT! This was the key: The noise not happening when it the spark plug was in, and not happening when the crank was turned were important clues too I depressed the valve manually and that didn't come up with anything but when I took the carb off and put my hand...

    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Re: CB350 Squeaking Valve? I can try those things when I get home this evening.

    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Re: CB350 Squeaking Valve? The oil breather was unblocked when it started squeaking, it is currently blocked as I was tracking down the noise. As far as I can tell, oil journals are not blocked. The cam holder oil passage was not blocked and the inspection port on the left side squirts oil...

    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Re: CB350 Squeaking Valve? I did not check that. They appeared to have been tested when the head had been rebuilt prior to me getting the engine as they were dyed and I didn't verify. Compression is good in both cylinders however. It could be compression leaking out but its so consistent...

    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Re: CB350 Squeaking Valve? It squeaks while it is running, audible over the massively loud exhaust on it. Sparks plugs have been in and out on this and I'm sure they are seated well when they are in. Though that is a good point I forgot to mention. The sounds is diminished/gone when the plug...

    CB350 Squeaking Valve? SOLVED

Hey all, I've been working on this CB350 for months and finally got it started up. It running pretty ok but started to squeak/quack. It took me a while to locate the noise but I'm 95% sure its coming from the #1 intake valve. See link to video...

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Re: CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong? SUCCESS Success! I tightened a couple head bolts to compress the gaskets and press the jigs down on the base a little tighter. From there I could install the cam ends with the timing gear not bolted to the crank. I did have to rotate the...

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Yes, this has been my exact problem.

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

:) assuming I'm an ass... Anyway, I though I was too but I'm not 100% sure. Books say to install camshaft with the mark up. So that's what I've been trying. Having done this on several bikes that were not cb350s I am feeling chagrinned.

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Tried all the things and recommendations so far to no avail. A friend suggested rotating the cam shaft so all the lobes are down to facilitate installation so ill try that next.

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Im certainly going to try this, but I think the manuals disagree with you. At least how I read them...

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

The directions in the shop manual match the Clymer ones. Following those directions, I am unable to install both the tach and points assemblies.

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks for the replies all! The roller tensioner arm is installed, the spring loaded part is not installed. I am following the directions in the Clymer manual I have. Are the installation instructions different between them? I'll try the tricks you folks suggested sometime this weekend...

Really? No one :-( Did I ask a really stupid question or a really hard one?

CB350 Camshaft installation? Am I doing it wrong?

Hey all, I've been rebuilding a CB/CL 350 motor. It has the fatty cam. I bought the motor from a guy who had 'rebuilt' it and had to take it down and split the case because it wouldn't shift. The top end was assembled when I got it and and has a heavy duty cam chain. I replaced the stock...

    1971 CL350 "Headache" - Dies when warm

I ended up solving the problem by setting the timing by ear instead of using the timing light. A slightly advanced timing, according to e left cylinder, seems to allow both cylinders to fire. It's still missing a little bit on one cylinder, but I know the advancer has some play in it. One I...

    CL350 / CL360 spark advancer. Interchangeable?

Are the spark advancers from the 350 twin interchangeable with the 360? The one on my 1971 CL is cracked an had a lot of free and I think its causing some timing bugs. It looks like the 360 one is more common in eBay for less.

    1971 CL350 "Headache" - Dies when warm

Installed Pamco ignition, found out the timing advance was frozen. I don't know enough to know if that could be the problem when it gets warm?

    1971 CL350 "Headache" - Dies when warm

Playing hooky today. Pulled the plugs and they are wet. It's not lean. So carbs, not ignition. Why would it get so rich when riding but not idling?
