I recently bought a cheap ass XT250, beaten up and looking rough but with a good motor and mechanicals. This build is for my wife to learn on but after my CX the last thing I wanted was something stock :)
Here it is as I brought it home, with the CX.
And as of today, after I stripped down...
Pretty much finished off my CX, just need the bar end mirrors to turn up and to stick a wider tyre on the rear but I'll call it done :)
Running VM34 carbs, Hyosung GT650R front end, slightly modified heads and a Laverda race bike fairing. Runs and stops great and I'm real happy how it's come...
I've seen some complicated rearsets for the CX500 due to the shifter coming out from the back of the engine rather than the side. I wanted to move my pegs back a bit but not that much and didn;t want lots of complicated linkages etc and wanted it to kinda look factory.
To make them I cut the...
So it's been a while, around 3 years, since I started my CX500 build and a couple of years since I got it on the road and painted etc. Rather than dig up an old thread I'm kicking off a new one for PartII
To start with this is how it looked when I got it.
This is how it looks right now...
Picked up a pair of sunglasses on ebay with a camera mounted in the middle of the frame, not the best sunglasses by a long way but pretty handy for on bike video and easier to use than the other cheapies I tried, the glasses cost $21.87AUD. Gave them a quick test this afternoon, it was around...
So I finally got some pics that weren't in my driveway and didn't have the garbage bins and the neighbors car in them. Stopped up the road at the local sports oval to grab a couple as I had the camera on me.
Cheers

So is anyone keen for a meet up or ride, maybe a coffee out at Deus one weekend or a run up the Pacific Hwy to Mt white? No rush to organise I just want to see some other home built Cafe Racers on the road :)
Cheers
Steve
So my bike goes for a blueslip on Saturday and I'd be keen for a DTT ride over Christmas sometime, maybe head out to Deus and then up the Hwy to the old pacific hwy and the road warrior cafe, open for suggestions and any interest :)
Cheers
Steve
So I got a seat base from RocCityCafe, great price and great product it was worth the few days wait for it to arrive here in Australia. Anyway then I needed to pad it, I plan to do some longer trips on the bike so a race style seat pad wouldn't cut it. Here's a quick run down of how I built my...
So I have a RocCity seat mounted to my CX and I've made a seat pan for the foam etc so I can have it nicely finished and then just pop it on. My plan was to attach the pan to the base with those door panel clips, the generic fixed christmas tree shape ones (probably use around eight) . Does...
So I bought a cheap CX500 a month ago with the plan of building a Cafe Bike, I like the V twin in these and 500cc with 50hp is pretty good for a bike 30yrs old.
Anyway, the plan is to build a Ratty Cafe with just the essentials changed and then get it plated and pull it down after a month or so...
Been browsing the forum for a while and joined up last week (I think) Anyway, haven't had a bike for a while, 5 years roughly, and decided I wanted another but have had enough of sports bikes and wanted something with a little more of that classic styling. Looked around for a decent Honda CB...
