So spending 20 hours sandblasting, then
hand-sanding through the various grits up to 1000, then polishing on
my bench grinder with buffing wheels and polishing compound was no big deal ;-)
My covers have peeling silver paint -- is that a factory finish?
They have too many little dents and deep scratches to polish, so it looks like I'm going to be blasting off the current finish and painting.
The question is: can I use bondo to fix the dents and deep scratches? Is there a better...
I went with (almost) straight bars on my Scrambler -- still gives it an aggressive look but your knees aren't touching your ears like they would be with clubmans and no rearsets.
Hopped on the freeway for the first time with this bike the other day -- I've only ridden it a few times on city streets and so didn't notice it doesn't go into 5th until then.
I've never cracked open the bottom end... any advice before I do it? What am I looking for in there? Is this common or...
I use jumper cables all the time. Take out the bad battery so it's not even a factor in your circuit and hook the jumper cables directly between your non-running car and your pos and neg cables on the bike.
Love it -- cool stance too.
I have a Yamaha TW200 dual-sport that I take up north to ride on the ATV trails and last week I took off the mirrors because I kept catching them on branches... now I find that that by leaving them off I HAVE to check over my shoulder for turns and lane switches.
Picked this up over the weekend and got it running briefly -- I didn't want to run it too long because I don't know the mixture.
Anybody know what the fuel/oil mix would be or where to get a manual online?
There's a Puch parts dealer/restorer nearby to me but they haven't answered their phones...
I have some badges that need to go back onto a newly painted tank... unfortunately, the little emblem clamp nuts are long gone, so the posts don't fit snugly. I'm hesitant to just epoxy the badges on because I want to be able to pry them off in the future...
So any suggestions as to what kind...
Not really custom, but this is what Emgo reverse megaphones look like on my Scrambler.
Turns out I should have looked at the fiche -- there is a replacement part # for the headers and mufflers, and you can still order them from Honda!
See for yourself...
You'd think they would have provided some way of attaching a lead to the ground somewhere for situations like mine where the rear fender isn't grounded.
I was thinking I'd ground it to one of the mounting bolts too, but my rear fender is suspended from the frame with grommets. Even the forward end of the fender has a rubber gasket where it meets the frame, so
I was worried about grounding.
