360 project

so i'm getting ready to get a cl360 for the price of the new tires that are on it. anyways, it has a dead battery on it, so dead in fact that when i got it tested the tester thought it was a 6v. i figured i could start it with the kickstarter, but im not having so much luck with that. any ideas on what it is? the plugs are wet, so i know its not a lack of fuel, but i havnt been able to get it to try to spark. i thought it may end up being with the points, but they look really clean and uncorroded. this is my first bike (aside from an old dirtbike) and im pretty psyched about it. im thinking probably a brat style or a bobber like troybilt's

Hook a jump box to it and see if it'll fire that way... My 350 wouldnt start with the battery in it (which was bad), but hook a jump box and it fired up on the first kick.

i saw something in another build about hooking a car up to it without it running and i'm gonna give that a shot. i have no jumper cables (left them in my truck when i sold it :( ) so i have to wait until my buddy gets home to use it. i'll let y'all know what happens when i try it

I use jumper cables all the time. Take out the bad battery so it's not even a factor in your circuit and hook the jumper cables directly between your non-running car and your pos and neg cables on the bike.

just hooked it up to my car and it fired right up. it isn't running on the right cylinder though(looking from the rear). i pulled the plug wire off while it was running and i could feel a little bit of a shock through the wire. it felt kind of weak, but im used to cars and i dont know if there is really much of a difference between the shock intensity. i didnt have any tools, otherwise i would have pulled the plug out and checked to see if it was wet or fouled or do a spark test. i didnt feel any fuel coming out of the exhaust pipe, but it is kindof a long pipe and i didnt run it for very long. it definitly needs a tune.

Good get man. She will be awesome im sure! It may be a timing issue. How many miles are on it? Im having the same sorts of trouble with my 350. Changing out the points for a new set did wonders for how mine ran...

its got 53,xxx or something around that. i'm gonna go tinker a little while today if i can get ahold of some tools. i'm military, living on base in the dorms and the only tools i have real access to are at the hobby shop (which closes at 7) and they charge to use them. plus i dont have a pickup to take it over there

Good find man. It will be fun for sure. I know that there is a cool bike hiding under there. If you can find a harbor freight you can pick up a good many things (tools and such) that you will need for pretty cheap. They are online too, but you'd have to wait for stuff to arrive. That would be better than renting tools. I'm with vonyinzer on the timming. I'd almost bet that the points on one side are out. You will want to pick up or download a manual. There are shop manuals floating around here and on the net and that would be best. If a search doesn't turn something up send me a pm and all try to help you locate one. Good luck on you build and don't be afraid to ask questions. This board is full of great people more than willing to help out. Oh yeah, Thanks for being there for our country!

it takes a bit of searching to find what your lookin for but im sure a full shop manual for your 360 is on there.

so i've been looking around on these forums lately and i've noticed that a good chunk of the bikes bought on here (before build) have been had for 200-400 bucks. the guy i'm buying this one from wants 600 because he says he paid 300 for it than put tires on it and a few other things but never rode it and doesn't want to lose money. i feel like thats probably pretty reasonable, but i was wondering about y'alls opinions. externally (as you can see from the pics) its pretty rough, but the tank is clean, the frame is straight, the motor runs alright, and its complete.

I would be very hard pressed to fork over $600 for it. Its not your fault that he put new tires (and whatever else) on it before getting it to run. My buddy just bought a very nice 72cb350 that runs great for $500. Just a thought.
