Actually, I'm gunna go with the brat style. Just gotta track down some dom tube. You can buy the "Brat" kits for xs650's but instead of taking a chance I'll hunt down some tube and brat the shit outta this baby myself.

This is what I'm going to do . The red section is to be bumped up to 1" tube. I've seen it before and it looks to be far more superior in the rigidity category.

Awesome, thanks for the advice guys, I welded a piece of 3/8 flat bar across the top ( at the top of each shock ) and next I'll step up the gussets. I actually just started welding so...recipe for disaster...but hopefully not.

I'm no expert....but I know there are a few on this site... Will this fail?

Do you want a 1 for 1 swap? I'm not sure which way to go with the seating arrangement. The seat I have is in great shape too, hardly anything I would cal "rusty" only the vinyl is unwrapping a bit. I ride alone, but keeping the bike stock would mean keeping this seat, unless I find something...

Thanks Flugtechnik but... What I REALLY want to do is get rid of the HUGONGOUS plastic idiot light tower between my gauges and replace it with a piece of sheet metal with colored led's only. Keep the diameter to about 1" by 3" in length. I know it's been done, I just need to see the wiring side...

Ohh...and I can buy these LED's with the resistors already built in? I've heard some talk about these. Does that mean they're a quick swap from the bulbs?
