    2006 CBR600rr Daily Rider project

Is this the right forum? If not feel free to move Mods ;D Bought an '06 CBR600rr off one of the guys at the shop a while back for quite the deal (sub $2000). While salvaged, it runs perfectly fine with the exception of needing a manual cam chain tensioner (a normal problem with what seems like...

    1982 GS650g to Cafe

NEWS! Test rode it for the first time last week. It actually did not run too bad, for just a quick run through of the carbs. However, I will be tearing them full apart for a dip in the acid and possibly powdercoat. Still havent decided on color and if I even want to powder the bowl/slide cover...

    '82 Gs650G monoshock conversion

The seat is just a skateboard propped into place, and the missing carbs do indeed seem curious. I have no fantasies of this being a working model. I'll have a serious conversation with one of the guys that helps fabricate pieces/builds some of the bikes we sell about the geometry change as well...

    '82 Gs650G monoshock conversion

Man you just love to post useless shit. Would you rather me buy a shitload of bolt on parts and be happy? I'll "attempt" whatever I feel is in my power, and usually I succeed despite my lack of knowledge. I don't work at a motorcycle shop for nothing.

    '82 Gs650G monoshock conversion

After looking for a well done monoshock Gs650G (like mine) I found a well done, 3-link system that looks VERY doable in my opinion. I just love the way it changes the stance of the bike, and cleans up the rear end. The top mount is a bent plate welded into place with a hole for top of the mount...

A project Idea.... Codename Gypsy Danger

You should probably stick with your amazing English skills then as well. There's a niche for everyone!

A project Idea.... Codename Gypsy Danger

So, I had recently watched Pacific Rim for the first time the other week and thought it was pretty cool. Being a fan of the monster movies, mecha-based anime, and motorcycles this got in my head... Build a bike modeled after the star of the movie: Gypsy Danger...

    1982 GS650g to Cafe

Yeah most likely. Been thinking about getting a Japanese sun vinyl for the tank, and possibly vinyl stripes for the plastics. The rims are probably just going to be either gloss red or matte black.

Well, finally got around to powdercoating the tank and emblems. The tank is together, mounted on the bike, and just need to find a line small enough for the vacuum fittings on the carbs and petcock. Then, I will be powdercoating the front end (upper/lower triples, forks, and bars). TANK IS DONE :D

Tank dilema (repair the old, or dump it)

hmm never thought about that tbh. Thanks for the heads up though! I can take it to our media blaster the next time I make a run and just sneak it in with the other stuff getting beaded.

Tank dilema (repair the old, or dump it)

Thanks guys. Went on the hunt for one on eBay and within 10 minutes... Bought this beauty for $100. scratches and whatnot, but no dents from what I can see, and about straight as an arrow. Also, it has the tank emblems that I didn't have before which are hopefully metal so I can dump them in the...

Tank dilema (repair the old, or dump it)

So, I have the original tank for my bike (1982 gs650G) and took it to the body shop my boss uses. He said it was pretty fucked, and would cost just as much to fix it as it would to buy a new tank. So here lies my dilema: Do I abandon my old tank and get a new one from say DCC or try repairing...

UPDATES -New SS brake lines front and back Well, after fighting with the front brakes for a couple weeks I gave in and asked for help from the head mechanic at the shop. After bleeding each brake line individually, and switching back to DOT3 the front brakes work flawlessly. And, way firmer as...

First build and need to clean out my caliber

All I did was did a little dip in acid, and then powdered it at the shop I apprentice at. However since you dont have the ability for cheap (free ;D) powdercoating, everything alpha said is right on the money. Well, except if I'm honest, I use compressed air to get pesky pistons out regularly...

Questions about a Salvage bike (insurance, title, etc)

I'm going to buy a salvaged 03/04 GsXR600 off my boss for about $1700 (Runs, rides, just missing the fairings). I called AAA and confirmed it was a salvaged title, no lien or fees just expired registration (about 2 weeks old). Just for continuity, I live in SoCal so the information should...

Taking the Driving Test in California - Do I Need Turn Signals?

Much agreed. Take the MSF course, spend the money, learn something, and don't waste your time and sweat on the test at the DMV made to fail people.

After moving the bike around to the shop I currently apprentice at, I have been getting a lot done. Taking off the calipers, valve clearances, Dynojet stage III, carb synch, etc. Here is a clip of it running, idling, revving...

    MSF course or permit+test?

That makes me feel so much better haha. Thats a lot of money. Now I feel like a jackass for bitchin ::) Well, at least I already have gloves and a jacket and they will provide a helmet and bike. Well, hopefully I pass it the first time otherwise $250 again is nuts hahaha.

    MSF course or permit+test?

True, however the money side of it is a bit of a pinch. It's pretty hard to raise $250 on a $9/hr when half your paycheck goes to gas most of the time. I have been riding on and off when a) the boss is not in haha and b) riding bikes I was thinking of buying on CL. While yes the course does...
