Cleaning up my handlebars, what to do with Reservoir?

Ha, nice PJ. They are disc brakes, front and rear.

Well, no I haven't actually tried anything...guess I probably should, ha. I've been polishing up my chrome pieces a bit though. I tried the tin foil and water thing to get rid of rust on chrome and it worked like a charm, I couldn't believe it.

Cleaning up my handlebars, what to do with Reservoir?

Hi! So I'm thinking of "cleaning up" my bars. I just can't figure out how to get rid of the brake Reservoir off the bars...anyone have any good resources to read up on doing something like this? Thanks!

Ya, so I was a bit "up in the clouds" with the whole bracing frame thing. Anyways, How do you make that ole'paint SHINE ? What's the deal with waxing and polishing a painted surface like these original paint jobs had? You know, that show shine. Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Thanks, I'm enjoying it. Trails would be fun, but this thing is getting prepped for the streets. Though now have it down to bare frame, it's surprising that you're able to get these things to go 50-60mph without bracing the frame! Its like a 20 gauge steel shell...I'm considering figuring out...

So quite a bit has happened since last post. I tore the bike down into sections. Really isn't much to this little guy. Next on the list is cleaning everything to see what I have and to stall for some ideas to hit me. Right now I'm thinking I want to leave the "finish" on the bike as it looks...

    Boston area Rockers unite!

Well, winter is slow for sure and everyone has builds, but this spring should see some good rides. I know a hand full of good dudes in the Salem/Beverly area that are always willing to ride. And hopefully the Greasebag Jamboree ride will happen again this year. The dude who organizes it lives...

    CT70

Ya, sorry for the lack of updates. Usual holiday excuses. I did try to figure out why I couldn't get it started again and noticed the meatheads I bought it from were running the thing without the oil transfer hose (these engines need either an oil cooler or hose to connect two areas of the...

So, I got her started (!!!), even though it was only for a minute. Had to re-solder the wires to that black box and hacked a mount out of zip ties and what was left of the bracket that's still there. Got the chance to rev'er up a couple times before getting yelled at (the kid was sleeping...

Hey Bruno, thanks for the reply. I believe you are correct with the timing thing. I've been doing a little research on lunch break and found the the points cover is under that rotor and that box does mount to the side to read the timing. Easy fix to get it mounted again, I hope... TGIF and the...

OK, Got my first question ;) The black square thing centered in the red circles is not attached, and I believe it "rubs" the rotor (as in the second picture) Can anyone tell me what this black thing is and what its purpose in life is? Besides a battery, I think this is all that stands in my...

    CT70

Just picked up this CT70 for $300. Not sure if I got hosed, but I was looking for a winter project. Planning a complete tear down. Mostly for learning purposes as I was jumpy and bought it without a title :-[ Hopefully I can get a title for it but I'm not sure how it'll go here in Mass. I've...

    Starter Chain Help Needed

Skate & Bob: I thought you could adjust the pad as well, but it seems it is a fixed plate. There is nothing missing either. The only idea I have is that maybe the pad has been worn over time and might just need to be replaced. Problem is, if I find one on the ebay, there's no way to tell if I'm...

    Starter Chain Help Needed

Hey guys, So, I noticed a noise coming from the left side of my engine. Opened it up to find the Starter Chain very loose (A-Circle)! I sat and read the book, couldn't find anything to tell me wether or not I can tension this chain or how thick the idle pad should be (B-Circle). Sat and...

Permatex the Right Stuff Gasket Maker?

huh..well, too late for that. I wish that would have been the directions on the can. Anyways, should I open the thing back up and clean/do-over?

Permatex the Right Stuff Gasket Maker?

So I finally tried this stuff today for the first time today, it sure is messy! One thing I couldn't get the hang of was getting a consistent amount of Stuff out of the nozzle to make a good even line. And, things got super messy when I tried to circle around bolt holes. I used it to seal my...

Permatex the Right Stuff Gasket Maker?

Wasn't sure if this is where this should go, but has anyone ever used this stuff? Was thinking it might be good for non-cylinder head-gasket gaskets (crankcase gaskets, head gaskets, etc)? Anyone have any idea?

So, ya, I've slowly come around and think I may just focus on restoring this bike. Thankfully I haven't done any cutting or modding, and the only thing I need to replace that I threw out was the old rusted air box. Still have the side covers! That being said the bike does need some work to be in...
