I need the little copper washers that go on my cylinder head bolts. The bike is a 1979 cm400T, but CB400t will work as well. I kinda lost some of them :( Or if anyone has any information on sourcing them or making my own. Thanks!
I've decided to just make a new topic for this build. I'm out of school for the summer, so some things have been happening.
-bottom end rebuilt
-rebuilding carbs
-top end soon to be rebuilt
-polished some aluminum
what will be done soon?
-top end rebuilt

Hi Guys, I'm a college freshman majoring in mechanical engineering. I just bought my first motorcycle, a CM400T. I plan on building a cafe racer with it.
The first attachment is a picture of a cb750 that I wanna design the bike after, I like the seat and the stance on it. The other two pics...
ok so I have this old kawasaki ga5, it's all in parts. I wanna put it back together and make it like a cheap custom bike for a kid or messing around on dirt roads. The problem is...the crankshaft and tranny are completely seized and unsavable. It sat outside for at least a decade without...
I have a 1978 Suzuki rm100 dirt bike engine. To torque it down I need to use a crowfoot to get in there , but the crowfoot can't get in there with the torque wrench, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to do this. The reason I can't get it in is because of how the fins are
I am currently rebuilding a suzuki dirt bike that my dad had. It's got a tm125 frame and an rm100 motor. It's got an old aftermarket CDI for it. The cdi is a motortek CD-80. The wires coming from the CDI are different colors than the ones coming from magneto in the motor. The CDI has a...
Ok so when my dad was 15 (which was almost 20 years ago) he bought a dirt
Bike from a friend for $50...great idea right? Maybe! Haha, anyways he had it
Cobbled together and even used gas piping for the exhaust pipe like they do on
Lawn tractors...did I mention that the motor and frame are two...
Right now I'm working on a dirt bike in my powersports lab at the career center I
Attend and my dad wants to put lights on it eventually so we were thinking since
It doesn't have a charging system that we would go off of the wires going to the
Ignition coil and wire that to a voltage...
Ok so I brought my fourwheeler into lab to fix some stuff on it.
Clean up plastics
Fix idling problem
Clean off rust and repaint
Replace rear tires
Replace steering bearing
Forgot to get pics from the very beginning
There's rust and paint missing on top of the frame, and the exhaust needs...
I want to change my atv's headlights from halogen to led and I can't cross reference the bulbs so I've decided to buy sockets made for LEDs and bulbs for them, then wire them onto the circuit. So does anyone have any opinions or suggestions on how this should be done?
Starting to work on my fourwheeler in lab so I don't have to do dumb projects haha
Things to do on it are:
Sand body panels to remove scratches
Fix idling problem(clean carburetor)
Paint exhaust
Paint frame where it's missing paint
Paint rims
Replace some screws that are rusted/stripped
Paint...
Ok this might sound dumb, but couldn't a solenoid from a piece of lawn equipment replace a motorcycle solenoid? I'm not asking because of money since they cost about the same, but let's say you're late for work and ur solenoids out on your cx 500 (cx500s don't have kick start), could it work? I...
I hope that the title got your attention 8) . ok so I was thinking "all everybody talks about are spy cars...so what about spy bikes?" So my question is; "if you were going to what would you do to a bike to make it a spy bike?" The rules? There are none, you can make it as expensive as you...
Ok I know that on modern day cars that the solenoid also engages the starter motor pinion, but on my early 2000's honda recon 250 the solenoid is separate from the starter motor, so I assumed that on other earlier small engine vehicles it's the same way. Which brings me to my question on bikes...
Ok so a while ago the company my dad worked for bought out another company and they brought their stuff over, which for the most part thrown away so my dad and his maintenance buddies went dumpster diving and my dad pulled out a bunch of taps. So a couple of weeks ago when my school was...
Ok so there's a certain headlight bucket that I want but they don't have it in LED and no one makes a 6 1/4" led bulb so I was wondering has anyone ever cut out an incandescent bulb and put in an LED and how did you do it? Thanks guys
Ok the full question is "Can a car carburetor go on a motorcycle? why or why not? and if so why hasn't it been done oem?" I just had this random thought as to why car carburetors and motorcycle carburetors are so different and it seems like having to adjust a cars carburetor would be easier than...
Ok so my question is the same as my subject. Right now I'm just trying to collect info for the build I'm wanting to do hopefully soon. I want to know if you can switch them because I'd like to have all disc brakes just so I have more stopping power, u might ask y I want more and the answer is...
I've looked on dotheton.com and on google as to how bad the cx500 vibrates. I'd like to know because I liked the looks of the low and mean cafe racer. so I'm thinking about doing something like that, but i'm not going to copy it. I just don't want to make a big investment and then be...
I thought there was a board specifically for new tools/products but I couldn't find it so I'll use this board. Anyways if you guys have something rusted together get Freeze-Off I don't know how old it is but it is great. I was taking apart a two stroke engine that's been sitting outside for...
