Modifying a sealed bulb from incandescent to LED

Been Around the Block
Ok so there's a certain headlight bucket that I want but they don't have it in LED and no one makes a 6 1/4" led bulb so I was wondering has anyone ever cut out an incandescent bulb and put in an LED and how did you do it? Thanks guys

It can be done, but it's not trivial. LEDs that are bright enough to provide the kind of light you need from a headlight require large heatsinks that take up a lot of room. I have an LED headlight on my bike and I had to relocate all of the wires from the headlight bucket because there was no room left.

The headlight bucket is the housing and shouldn't be related to the type of bulb that goes in the headlight itself. You can get sealed beams, or the ones with interchangable bulbs from incandescent to LED, but they all go into the same bucket. I am wrong?

They make all three size lamps, the 5 1/2, 6 1/4 and 7 in. That take H4 bulbs and can be replaced with any type of bulb set for an H4 install.

Or get the whole bucket and lamp from Dime City:

the Ebay lamp may or may not mount correctly. Depends on the bike you have.

The DCC light comes in black or chrome...Nice price for a complete light. Includes the bucket.
