Hi Tad
Good to meet you - the first long trip on my Ace! Frances says we hit about 68 mph tops and 'cruised' at about 55mph. I know that my arse felt like it had been pummeled with a cricket bat by the time I got home!
It handles brilliantly though and I had to keep waiting for her...
Hi Tad
I'm gonna try and get there - I'll try for 7 ish so we can compare and contrast mods etc. (on the bikes not Parker wearers on perfume burners!) ;)
Work's my problem - well 'good' problem really as we are busy, busy busy! So I might actually be there at 7......
cheers mate
Dave
Hi folks
Try reading this on plugs - one of the best articles I've found but a bit out of date in some respects, although this makes it ACE perfect!
http://www.strappe.com/plugs.html
Plugs are complicated thing to read and apart from a basic guide there is no point without a torch and a...
I fitted a Molkt carb and stack but if I did it again and when I do my 250 I'm gonna spend the extra and get a genuine Jap Mikuni - lets face it they are the best! Plus you can get jets and stuff easy...the only problem here is that I can't say if the Molkt carb was an improvement over stock...
It may very well be but where does the fuel go in or come out for that matter? Still nice though....... I wonder why the rear brake is so crap.... I'm sure my XL 125 would lock it's rear wheel up.
And if Skyteam are reading this
A. Thank you for the smiles and
B. 1976 XL125 copy??? with...
Where did I get 'Goodrich' from?! Cheers mate I'll either give it a go or tap up a chum who works in a hydraulic hose factory (honest) - Reminds me of a tale my mate who worked in a bus depot used to tell. He opened a box of bus brake shoes and found a note inside saying "Help- I am being...
I'm in!
Top effort creating this data base - well done mate!
I find it amazing that such a small capacity, lets face it, cheap cheerful Chinese copy bike can create such enthusiasm and effort all around the world! But like all bikes that are destined to become classics (cos in my view it...
Called into Earnshaws Bike shop in Huddersfield today to ask for an ETA on my bike and engine. Apparently it is in a container at sea on it's way from China! Anyway, no sweat I can start amassing other stuff to put on it. I had a look at a 250 Raptor whilst I was there - a horrible thing to...
A scheme that I have considered for the front end is to get another disc fork leg and mount it on the other side so I had one calliper in front and one behind. I have seen some very early racers done like this - Nortons I think, but I can't find any pictures.
It may mean that I can't run the...
Thanks for that - I'm gonna chase em up Monday to see when it's all arriving!
I wondered about a rear disc but hate to beaten and have persevered with the drum - it is now good but out today and it's not a wheel locker! I am going to try drilling the sprocket mounting boss to create a fan that...
Oh yeah............ Don't know how I forgot this but I fitted shocks from NJB Shocks in the uk - What a revelation - unbelievable improvement and with out shrouds they are only £72 Mine were £92 with shrouds and P&P..........
Short Goldie sounds ace! Left Ooracing pipe std length, blocked...
Hi Muncy
This is a project I am going to enjoy! I am waiting for an ACE 125 to arrive at my local dealer along with a 250 engine - I ordered mine from Skyteam and it is the engine they fit to the 250 Raptor that they do. I asked if I could have the bike without an engine but they said it was...
Hi yyzdd
I can't comment on the engine but the basic bike is sound and in my view ideal as a learner.
All I'd say you need to replace is the tyres as the standard ones are probably a bit crap in the wet - I can't believe I'm telling someone to replace brand new tyres! I've ridden on all kinds...
Thanks for nice comments regarding vents - if you want to make some you need some ss mesh (think they use it for filters in model steam engines) a piece of tube same size as your hole and a piece of bar a couple of mill smaller than the tube id. Mesh over hole in tube, bar centred over hole and...
Hi all
been makin' swarf int' shed. My fork spring spacers are 19mm oa dia, 9mm hole right through and the shoulder is 11mm dia and 7mm long.
I also fit EBC brake shoes and a Ooracing's talon rear sprocket with 34 teeth and a 17 front sprocket. Whilst it was in bits I made two alloy spacers...
Is this it?
