    HollywoodMX's xv920/TR1 Cafe super-dupe!

The only thing that's going to touch the case hardening is carbide. Ive thought about turning off the small hardened layer on a lathe with a carbide tool. Just the area around where the holes would be drilled. If you can get carbide drill bits that should work too. Taping it shouldn't be a...

What 18 tooth sprocket is that if you don't mind me asking?

    Hollywoodmx's XV920 Tracker - Quick Build

Nice. What kind of tires are those?

With that being at the front of the tire too I'd imagine you probably have more like 5" of travel at the top center of the tire, which is probably way more than enough (either way).

Yamaha XS750 triple cafe racer build.

Not a huge fan of welding the foot pegs to the frame like that but to each his own. Otherwise looking good.

    Nuckingfuts Custom Build (XV750 Done!)

Re: Nuckingfuts Custom Build Were those predrilled hoops? I was under the impression that they'd be drilled at the wrong angle to spoke to a big rear hub like that. I've been wanting to go with a 3.5 and 4.25 set for my hubs but I didn't think it'd work. Like how you did that subframe. Looks tidy!

    '81 TR1 build.................(yup another Mojave tank combo!!)

A 15T front sprocket may have some rubbing issues on the case (I could be wrong). I went with a 16T from an XS650 and it still seems a little small in there but it shouldn't rub as long as I keep the chain adjusted. I did a 16/34 to keep it pretty close to factory ratios. I would have went 18/38...

    '81 TR1 build.................(yup another Mojave tank combo!!)

Looks familiar :) You had a much rougher starting point than me, but looks like you're making good progress. What's your plan with the chain, a 530? XS650 front sprockets will work with a little tweaking.

    Nuckingfuts Custom Build (XV750 Done!)

Re: Nuckingfuts Custom Build Oh, forgot to mention supermoto wheels. It'd probably be a lot more affordable to get a 3.5x17" hoop already laced up to a SM wheel than to an older hub (if I end up going that way I'll have to get some $300+ Excel rims with custom spokes... not cheap). Keep in mind...

    Another one of them Viragos

Oh yeah, I owe a large amount of my ideas to Sepp's website. I know a lot of his are either a higher mount exhaust or high duals. If I did a high exhaust it'd be a combination of something like this (from tr1.de): And this(from Down and Out Cafe Racers):

So what do you guys think; should I go with a low slung exhaust that kicks up under the rearsets or with a tracker style high exhaust? I think a high exhaust would look awesome but I worry about it being hot on the legs, I've never ridden anything like that before. I'm about to start working on...

    Nuckingfuts Custom Build (XV750 Done!)

Re: Nuckingfuts Custom Build I'm doing a similar build. As far as R6 spoked wheels go I don't think there are any direct swaps. What I went with (I have a inverted fork R6 front end) with some XS650/TX500 36 spoke hubs, custom wheel spacer(s) I made and ducati rotors. I found some bearings from...

Sorry for not updating. I have made some progress, but it's been slow going because of some other projects that fell in my lap (5.3 LS engine swap into my 71 GMC, Spec Miata build). I have got the front brakes plumbed with the Brembo master, braided line, R6 caliper. I've been working on...

Yeah, there has to be at least a dozen I've seen (didn't know this when I got the thing). But then again how many CB's are there lol. I'm not planning to tie the frame together, I'm chopping the frame similarly to how Sepp Koch has been doing it for a few years. Some people have arguments both...

And a crappy seat mockup. Got the front tire swapped from the swirly mag onto the spoke wheel. mocking up the rear wheel How I'm mounting the shock. I'm going to gusset this more, but for now I just have the mount tacked into place. Finally got her sitting on her own suspension Once I...

So I I figured it was time for me to start a build thread. Virago's being all the craze these days I couldn't help but try my hand at one when I found a nice deal on a '81 XV920R chain drive. Might as well be taken from different pages of the same cookbook I know (Benelli tank, motolana seat...

    HollywoodMX's xv920/TR1 Cafe super-dupe!

Damn, that does look pretty slick. 700lbs may be a bit stiff, but at least it should be easy to find springs to swap.

    HollywoodMX's xv920/TR1 Cafe super-dupe!

I'm banking on some form of R1 shock. I keep looking at these (planning a xv920 build) and the stock spring rate is about right and other than being shorter requiring moving the forward mounting point back, they'd be a hell of an upgrade.

"CBass" -- Yamaha Virago XV750 Cafe Build (Finished!! Updated with Pics and Vid)

Bike turned out great! Question though, what kind of rear tank mount is that? Some sort of clasp thing?
