Well had my first ride out on my Ace today, I've not grinned so much since i had my monkey bike. I still have a few jobs to do to finish it properly but i couldn't resist as the sun was out. I have sacked the alloy clip ons and gone for some steel ones. When i took the left bar off only one came...
Well the second bolt has just snapped trying to undo it. Lost all confidence in the clip on now. Busy looking for some different ones. Found some on flea bay so sent a best offer as they are pretty expensive but really think i'd rather have to spend some money and have the confidence in them.
Hi Bojer glad you've got the exhaust sorted. I am just about to pull the clip on bar off to return to Adrian. Will have a look see if i can fix it myself first. Totally gutted :( :( as the weather is lovely today and was hoping to get out and get some miles on her. uh well hopefully next weekend.
Hello josephau, i emailed Adrian at ooracing last night and he has replied and told me to return the broken part and he will try and drill out the snapped bolt. It would be good if you could email Adrian as well and tell him you have had the same problem and that you are aware that someone else...
I was that pee'd off i locked up the garage come in and poured a drink lol. I'll have a look tomorrow but i dont think I'll be able to get the snapped bolt out.
cqyqte you'd be amazed at how many people come in to where i work that have tyres way over inflated because they have seen the pressure on the side of the tyre. Its a bit scary!
Bojer have you had any more joy with your exhaust?
I have had a bit of a disaster tonight! Was just finishing of a few things planning on getting a test ride on saturday. Right hand clip on was moving a bit on the forks so nipped up the 2 bolts and one of them has snapped >:(. I will have to...
Cheers for that Bojer and sprocket, I only had a quick look through the manual so must have missed it. I would have been looking for psi so missed the kpa. I'll stick with the 32 front and rear. Also had my fair share of bikes over the years and always just gone with manufactures pressures and...
Sprocket the pressures given on the side of the tyres are maximum pressures. I'll have a mess on see what works best for me. probably go for 30 front 32 rear see how it feels.
Other than my ace which I've not ridden yet, I've got my every faithful 94 VFR and until about a month ago my other toy was a speedway bike which i built myself, that was until i smashed my collar bone and ended up with a metal plate holding it together. So did the sensible thing and sold it :(
Bojer, i was at my wits end today after putting more packing in yesterday and welding a washer into baffle. Then today as i was thinking about putting another washer in it dawned on me the silencers are called mega phone silencer so thought i'd try the pipe exiting at the end flush to the cone...
Well here's my weekly update, I have managed to get the silencers sorted. Ended up having to weld (not easy with a welder that only welds about a cm at a time) a smaller bore pipe onto the baffle so that it now exits flush to the end of the end cone. Realised that without it the gasses exit into...
Bojer, I know what you mean about scourers they just don't seem right do they and trust me 2 silencers don't make for half the noise :( I think it will be a day of exhaust fettling tomorrow, maybe make an extra baffle or try your idea and reduce the outlet size.
Bojer, Seems the down side to having 2 silencers is i've got twice the noice. i'm hoping once i get a bit more heat through the silencers it might improve. If not its pan scourers for me, really want it quieter the bikes looking ok so be a pitty to spoil it with all the racket. Let me know how...
Well I have repacked the silencers tonight, bought some packing that is supposed to expand once the heat gets to it but as i haven't been able to ride the bike yet I'm not sure if its had enough heat through it yet. First impressions are its gone from proper crackers ear bleeding loud to just...
I went for michelin pilot street for my build, I was able to get a 2.75 x 18 for the front but they dont make a 3.00 x 18 rear so went for a 90/90 x 18 which is the equivalent. I've not ridden the bike yet but I have always found michelins to be brilliant tyres.
Haha mark now that you've said it i cant stop thinking batman. My friend has been winding me up say i have to get flying goggles and a white scarf for when i go out maybe a cape would be better.
Haz, had her running yesterday and she's a bit on the loud side so have ordered some exhaust...
Didn't get as much as i planned done today but she's nearly there. Got a lot of little jobs to do then a final double check everything is tight and ready to go. Hopefully she'll be ready for first ride at the weekend. I will put some better pictures on once she all done.
